+249 If you said "I wish for world peace", and your friend said "doesn't everyone..." you could say back "No, because then there WOULD be world peace", amirite?

That would be awesome!

No, because everyone does want world peace. It's just that everyone pictures a different kind of world peace and a different way of getting there.

also, just because you want something does not mean it automatically happens.

@anon, but this time it's relevant since the only thing preventing World Peace is people who don't want it. If everyone wanted it, it would be possible.

not true. most everybody wants to have a pollution free earth, but is our earth pollution free? it takes an enormous amount of time and effort to make huge things like that happen. and as guci mentioned, everyone has different ideas of what world peace is. there is no way for 8 million people to agree on an idea as vague and open to interpretation as "world peace."

Well if there were some perfect specific World Peace for everyone to choose, and they all chose it, It would come true on its own. It's not like pollution. World Peace is when people agree to live peacefully, to just live, to //not// do certain bad things to one another. Pollution is something that is already there and needs to be fought, and World Peace is more an absence of something. If everyone wanted to get along with everyone, World Peace would be achieved. No real actions and effort would need to be done -- people would just not let the opposite happen.

There's a difference between 'wishing for world peace' and actually doing something about it.
