+313 It's hard to get a first job as a sixteen year old in this economy, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm 18 and nobody wants to hire me. I'm guessing it's because my shitty schedule due to college.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ok everyone, Jesus goes to college. Now there aren't anymore excuses for not going.

A fast-food joint, or a cashier if you know anyone who works at the store.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah I've applied to exactly 23 of those, no job calls back a month later.

I got the best job ever:) training horses:) woopins

I showed up at a daycare to apply for a job. The kids stopped what they were doing to flock around me, and the adult in charge made me fill out the application while sitting in the coat closet because I was "causing a distraction." I didn't go back for the interview. That woman had several screws loose.

I have a job and I'm 15, weirdly enough I took my first sick work day ever. Its a good day to live in a country that's underpopulated.

Im 15 and have a babysitting job where i make $75 bucks a week for 3 days of babysitting. 12 hr shifts. lol long days...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

so you get paid $2 an hour?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

yeahh but it's only 1 kid, the mom provides me with a computer, tv, dvds, netflix, and food. i start at 6 am. and go to 6 pm. But normally ellie(the kid) sleeps till about 8 or 9 so i can sleep until she comes and wakes me up

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I probably still wouldn't do that for $2 an hour, but if you like the job then that's cool.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

it's just babysitting tho. It's super easy. I just pretty much sit here and watch movies and play video games with her

I'm 16 and have a job that pays $500 per week. But it's manual labor and has long hours.

I'm 16 and got hired the first place I applied, the public library. Work 3 days a week for 3 hour shifts. Make around 75 bucks a week. And all I do is put back books or check them in. Love it :) God is good.

Thanks for the idea! I'm 15 and now I think I will apply at the public library near my house as a first job :) God is great!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No problem! It's a great idea. They love hiring students. And it's a much better environment then fast-food or somewhere. Good luck ;)

It's easier if you have connections/your parents have connections. But I think many people (teenagers) could probably get jobs; they just wouldn't be all that great or pay that well.

I'm 16 and I just applied at the 12 nearest Walgreens', I'm hoping this post is wrong.
