that aborted baby could've found the cure for cancer. amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
amen.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That aborted baby could've been a mass murderer
by Anonymous13 years ago
The man has a point, for every good opportunity, their is an opposite senario where he could just live in a way to harm our earth even greater and offer nothing
by Anonymous13 years ago
Either way, the baby should be given a chance at life. I hate those people who carelessly have sex and get pregnant, then they decide to have a child. I think they don't deserve to have sex at all. Also don't give me that "what kind of life will that child have?" there is such a thing as adoption. Or the "what if they got raped?" Only 1% of abortions happen because of rape.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I verrrrrry much agree.
by Anonymous13 years ago
yayyy lol
by Anonymous13 years ago
But do we really need more kids in the orphanage? And is there really a huge difference between aborting an uncreated fetus at ANY point in life? I know that stupid people who are going to have abortions shouldn't be having sex in the first place. but stupid people aren't exactly known for doing what they should. And these are probably the people that shouldn't be reproducing anyway...
by Anonymous13 years ago
Please know that not every single person getting an abortion is stupid, and not every single person is irresponsible when it comes to sex. Sometimes, for whatever reason, the contraception fails
by Anonymous13 years ago
I didn't say that. I only listed a possible asset that abortions provide.
by Anonymous13 years ago
ok I know you didnt say that-there are just sooooo many people on here that believe that though
by Anonymous13 years ago
You don't give the other sperm a chance to live; you only let 1. Why should that 1 get to live and all it's others have to die? Sex should be illegal. ;)
by Anonymous13 years ago
This isn't about SPERM, it's about abortion. I have to be honest I'm pro-life all the way, but if I know someone whose had an abortion I won't judge them because of it.
by Anonymous13 years ago
You aren't pro-life all the way, if you were, you would say that all the sperm should be able to live. ;D
by Anonymous13 years ago
Stupid people DO have sex, you cant stop it, what you can stop however, is the overflow of children in adoption agencies
by Anonymous13 years ago
@799098 (BeastyTHC): You two reiterated my argument in two parts. I feel smart now ;)
by Anonymous13 years ago
but yet all these diseases could have been cured by that one aborted baby, the top debate right now is when a fetus is considered "life". so instead of feeling bad about getting an abortion some people should embrace it and feel good about doing something that will help cure the most deadly diseases in the near future and stopping the deadly ones occurring now.
by Anonymous13 years ago
yeah and most people who get abortions ARE having sex responsibly using contraception and it just doesnt work sometimes.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I'd like to see where you're getting your info because that is such a generalized statement. You don't know whether or not people getting abortions are using contraception, in fact most people I know who've had them WERENT.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Do you know how long adoption takes?
by Anonymous13 years ago
i know! it's not like a animal shelter, you can't just pick out which one you like and be all, "ok, thanks for the kid, i'm out of here!"
by Anonymous13 years ago
It takes years and years
by Anonymous13 years ago
Lol or have become the next Hitler.
by Anonymous13 years ago
And it still can through stem cell research.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Stop thinking "we/it could have and should have" and think "what can we do".
by Anonymous13 years ago
or the child would've have probably been raised by a mother hu didn't want him, or grow in a slum because his family wouldn't be able to afford him, ruining his/her and everyone around him/her's life. leading to criminal, drug and suicide
by Anonymous13 years ago
To be fair, there are people who grow up in those very same condition who become very successful people.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Very, very few though, I'd say.
by Anonymous13 years ago
The only ones that become successful in that situation are rappers, singers, actors, people who are creative because they can't get a proper education for a job that deals with much science or math.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't know, that seems like an unfair generalization to me. I guess it could be true.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Thats not always the case, everyone jumps to the conclusion that the mother couldnt afford that baby, isn't it possible that the mother is just an irresponsible slut who didn't want to deal with the consequences of her actions?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Even if the mother just didn't want the baby, or didn't know how to look after it, there's a good chance it would turn out similarly, if the mother kept it...
by Anonymous13 years ago
i dont believe that. there are plenty of people that live in good homes that turn to crime or suicide.
by Anonymous13 years ago
True, but how does that affect what I said?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Because its not always the kids who grow up in unwanted homes that turn out that way, which is what everyone seems to think. They are plenty of people that grew up in shitty homes that went on to become great. Likewise, there are people in wonderful homes with loving parents that turn to drugs and crime.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That's no argument for controlling a woman's body.
by Anonymous13 years ago
You seem to be stuck on the "controlling women's bodies" thing when it's more about the rights of a living human inside a womb.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Clearly your are sexist. Abortion is in many cases the most responsible choice. You just want to punish women for having sex because you think it's bad. Obviously, you don't give a fuck about the life of the "baby", you just want to punish women. You have no right to deny a woman her rights because you don't like her choices. What a woman does with her body is none of your fucking business so butt out.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Oh yeah, I'm sexist against women even though I am one. And no you're wrong, in every case where the mother is not able to keep her baby, adoption is the most responsible choice. I'm not for punishing women, my point was merely that everyone always assumes that the mother is not capable of keeping the baby when that is not always the case. Every single child deserves a chance to live, so when it comes to the choice between life or death for a baby then yeah it is my fucking business.
by Anonymous13 years ago
What about the rights of the living child in her womb? Does it not have any rights?
by Anonymous2 years ago
I don't believe in destiny or fate or whatever, so no,I don't agree with this.
And what about overpopulation? I mean that's a huge problem in today's society.
by Anonymous13 years ago
ok, then if you want to help, kill yourself, not someone who cant defend themself.
by Anonymous13 years ago
its really fucking stupid, you dont realize the problems it would cause if abortion was totally illegal. Thats the thing, abortion can never be totally illegal because: The dangerous illegal abortions, at that point there would be MORE babies than adoptive families-why do you think china sends all there babies here, they dont have room (i have no idea if abortion is legal or not in china btw) but they have population problem and in some places you have a limit to how many children you can have. Our resources would dwindle and we would have even lower success rate
by Anonymous13 years ago
Exactly!!! BTW, abortion is legal in China.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Asians sell soiled children's underwear in vending machines too. Just because another country does it, it doesn't make it ok or acceptable.
by Anonymous2 years ago
Okay its there choice stay out of there buisness, for real its there life not yours
by Anonymous13 years ago
*their
by Anonymous13 years ago
Go away
by Anonymous13 years ago
Just sayin'.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Abortion is not necessarily about what is morally right, it is more about how any woman should be able to do what she wants with the right to privacy. Just because it doesn't always make it right to abort a fetus doesn't mean women should be denied that right, they will just do it anyway in dangerous ways. We live in a country that allows people freedom for a reason. It all comes down to whether or not the parents truly want/are able to have the child. My mom worked in social services for years and saw horrible things happen to many children who were orphaned (not saying that this happens to all children). Abortion isn't black and white.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't think that anyone has the right to take a child's life away from it. Not even the mother, the child is not her property to do what she sees fit with it. She should take responsibility for her actions and have the baby, and THEN if she doesn't want it, give it up for adoption. Although orphanages are overpopulated, this gives that one child a chance to have a loving family someday, rather than to grow up in a terrible home with parents who didn't want you.
by Anonymous13 years ago
But legally, isn't it always up to parents to make children's decisions for them? Like say if a kid had cancer, wouldn't it be the parents decision whether the child got chemotherapy or not? Maybe I'm misinformed, but if that is the case, then technically parents are pretty much in charge of whether a child lives or not, until they're considered old enough to make that decision for themselves, which I'd say is at about 16, but I'm just guessing.
by Anonymous13 years ago
wrong. if a parent chooses not to feed the child, the government takes it and punishes the parents. you can replace food with pretty much any other scenario
by Anonymous13 years ago
I didn't mean like that though, I meant in a situation involving surgery or something similar, the child can't consent to or reject anything themselves, as far as I know.
by Anonymous13 years ago
yes parents have rule over medical decision involving their children, it is not the same as not feeding your kid. A child is not compotent to make their own medical decisions.
by Anonymous13 years ago
By law, the mother has complete control over the fetus as it is in her body. Any laws regarding the fetus must also control her body. Controlling a woman's is not in keeping with the rights guaranteed to each person in the 1st amendment.
by Anonymous13 years ago
A woman's body is her property and laws that affect the fetus affect her body as her fetus is an extension of her body.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's kind of funny how people are for abortion. You wouldn't be for it if your mom decided to abort you, although you wouldn't be alive anyway.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Personally, I wouldn't care. I haven't achieved much, the world wouldn't be too different had I never been in it. Statistically, wouldn't that be true for a lot of people?
Then again, I suppose it is true that you can't know, if you abort a kid, it might have grown up, and even if it achieved nothing, it could have had 3 kids, who each had 3 kids, and so on, until one of them managed to do something useful for society. But it's equally likely that one of those people might do something awful for the world. No-one can know.
by Anonymous13 years ago
No one is for abortion. We are for the choice to have an abortion.
by Anonymous13 years ago
We should just leave people the fuck alone. Its not your choice and the woman getting an abortions probably feels like shit anyway.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Thanks for being the billionth person to use " the fuck" as a form of exclamation and exaggeration. Moron
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's not exaggerating... I think it might be emphasizing, but either way, I don't think it's that bad. I suppose they could have been more creative; "Why don't we leave everyone the lexicon alone?!" but that would be weird. :P
Not to mention, I'd say you might have exaggerated a bit... Then a agin, a lot of people would be saying "the fuck" so you might actually be correct. :P
by Anonymous13 years ago
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the word fuck. It shows a passion and strength in conviction that no other word in the English language can convey.
by Anonymous13 years ago
You should read freakonomics. There's a whole chapter about the years following the legalisation of abortion and the massive depletion of crime rates... unwanted children are more likely to go on to be criminals
by Anonymous13 years ago
There are also plenty of people who were loved and wanted as a child that grow up to be criminals. I have that book, and I'm not saying its not well researched, I just think some things can't be totally proven because they are so many other factors that can come into play.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Best book ever!
by Anonymous13 years ago
That may be the case, but we shouldn't judge people based on statistics alone. Otherwise, we may as well abort all children that would be born to impoverished mothers.
by Anonymous13 years ago
There is no such thing as "what if", only what is.
by Anonymous13 years ago
that was deep
by Anonymous13 years ago
So could that baby that potentially would have been created that one time you supposedly had a "headache" and didn't want to do it.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That baby couldnt cure cancer if the mother couldnt take care of it and afford to send it to a good school
by Anonymous13 years ago
Financial aid to Ivy League schools is pretty generous for students with excellent grades, however.
by Anonymous13 years ago
indeed, but that kid has to be brilliant. Also most kids that get into ivy league schools were attending private schools throughout, which cost money. Not saying its impossible for a poor kid to get there, just saying if every woman was forced to give birth not all of them will get by well
by Anonymous13 years ago
I see what you're saying; I was just playing devil's advocate.
by Anonymous13 years ago
yeah lol my writing teacher did that last year when we were doing persuasive essays, like no matter what you said he would think of something that an opposing person would say-it kinda helped get us prepared to write well lol.
by Anonymous13 years ago
What does playing devil's advocate mean? Does it mean arguing for every point of view, or something like that? :/
by Anonymous13 years ago
(dumb person): It just means I'm making a valid point for the side that I don't necessarily agree with, usually for the purpose of strengthening my own argument.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Or that baby could have been the next Hitler.
Just sayin'
by Anonymous13 years ago
That is the sole reason I would never get an abortion. It's like, "What if that baby was the next Gandhi? Or Van Gogh? Or Harry Caray?!" Then again, it could always be another Osama bin Laden... But you know.
by Anonymous13 years ago
The unfertilized egg in my uterus might have grown up and cured cancer. I don't give a fuck.
by Anonymous13 years ago
You would if you have cancer.
by Anonymous13 years ago
No, I wouldn't care. I like to keep my eggs unfertilized thank you very much. I am not going to run around getting pregnant as much as I can in case of of my babies happens to cure some disease.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I believe I've been saying this all along.
But I was too stupid to not make it into an amirite. :[
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's far better to have abortion legal. Everyone should be allowed to make their own choices. I don't think abortion should be used as birth control, but I would never want to take away someone's right to a choice. Sometimes, it just seems like the only option. It's not like everyone automatically thinks, "Oh, golly gee whiz. I'm pregnant. Off to the abortion clinic!" Most people only go with abortion as a last resort.
by Anonymous13 years ago
agreed, and there would be really big problems if abortion was totally illegal. Some people do decide on abortion before ever getting pregnant, but these people are usually on birth control and trying really hard not to get pregnant in the first place. I think the best thing to do is to make a choice before even having sex, pretend you are prego and figure out what you would do so that if something like that happens you wont waste any time trying to figure out what to do. People on here think that every girl who gets an abortion is some dumb slut that is irresponsible, and that is not the case at all. For some individuals getting an abortion could be the most responsible thing to do
by Anonymous13 years ago
This person was really smart to post anonymous lol
by Anonymous13 years ago
That aborted fetus could have been the next Hitler.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It could be the sole person who dooms the human race to extinction within a month. Just saying.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Over Thanksgiving, I was talking with my boyfriend's aunt who works at in adoption agency. She said there was a girl who was meeting with a family who was interested in adopting her baby. When they asked her why she turned to adoption, she told them that she had had an abortion, but the person who did it was not aware that she was having twins and only got one of the fetuses out. So her stomach kept growing and she went to the doctor and found out she would have had twins, only then did she decide to adopt out the baby, probably because it was too late to abort the other.
For those of you who think abortion should be legal, how would you feel if you were the baby that made it and found out in later years that you were meant to be a twin, only your biological mother had it killed not knowing that there were two of you?
by Anonymous13 years ago
I feel the same if my twin had died of natural causes inside my mother. Getting an abortion isn't bad.
by Anonymous13 years ago
But that's not a natural cause, the twin died because of a decision the mother made
by Anonymous13 years ago
Why is choosing not to give birth to a baby any worse than choosing not to conceive a baby? They both prevent the baby from being born, they just happen at different stages.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Choosing not to give birth means you are killing something that was supposed to have life. Choosing not to conceive doesnt affect anything because there is no baby to begin with, its not ending a life
by Anonymous13 years ago
You can't know what is "supposed" to have lived. What if someone was supposed to have been born but they weren't because the mother used birth control? If I can end the life of an egg and end the life of a sperm why can't I end the life of a fertilized egg? Both prevent babies from being born. Would you rather exist for a week or not exist at all?
by Anonymous13 years ago
That baby that was aborted was conceived and therefore was given life, why is it okay to have it taken away? If someone was supposed to have been born, even if the mother was on birth control, if it was absolute fate that the baby was meant to be born then the baby would be conceived anyway. Birth control isn't 100 percent effective.
by Anonymous13 years ago
If it was the "absolute fate" that the baby was meant to have been born, it couldn't be aborted could it? But I don't believe in fate and destiny anyway. I believe in a woman's right to privacy. What a woman does with her uterus is not any of your (or the government's) business.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I dont believe in absolute faith either. But I believe that a decision between life and death of a fetus is everyone's business because it is not just about her uterus, it is about what is living and growing inside it. Especially the father, which no one ever seems to take into consideration. Why is it only the woman's choice when it is his child as well?
by Anonymous13 years ago
A woman’s body is hers alone. Her blood, womb, bones, skin, legs, hips, uterus and brain are not subjects to the laws of religious fundamentalists and socialistic governments. Her body is not the property of her husband or the slave of the government. It is hers and only hers. So the choices she makes regarding her body should be hers and only hers. It is the woman's body and therefore woman's choice.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's not a matter of her body, it's a matter of the thing that is growing and living inside it.
by Anonymous13 years ago
The fetus is inside her body. It eats her food, it breathes her oxygen, and it relies on her brain. They have different DNA but during pregnancy they are one entity. One cannot control the fate of the fetus with out without controlling the woman's body and one cannot control a woman's body without stripping the woman of her rights.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeah, the fetus is inside her body, but it's not just a matter of her body at all. In my opinion once that child has been conceived, it is not just a matter of that woman's rights anymore, it is also a matter of that fetus's right to live. The woman has rights, yes, but those rights should not include the right to kill the baby that is living and growing inside her.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I wish there was a way we could give the fetus and the woman rights. Sadly, we can't do that. If the government regulates abortion, the government takes away a woman's right to govern her body, pursue the job and education she wants, and have privacy from the government. A woman right to control her body is very important in all discussions of abortion because the woman's body is significantly affected. Nevertheless, if the government does not regulate abortion, the lives of the fetuses go unprotected. It's hard to decide what to do.
However the more important question is: WHO should decide what to do? Who should make those tough choices about the future of the woman and the baby? Do you want a woman's future be determined by a congressional committee, an appointed an appointed official, or radical religious interest group? Or would you rather let the woman be the master of her own fate?
by Anonymous13 years ago
There's no good way to regulate abortion, that is true, which is one reason it shouldnt be legal in the first place. I think that for every woman who gets pregnant, but does not want to keep the baby, there should be an organization she can go to that will take care of her medical care and whatnot until she can find an adoptive parent that she likes. That way, being pregnant wont stop her from getting an education to help pursue that job because she wont have anything extra to pay for. I don't deny that the woman's body is affected, but the fact of the matter is that she would not just be the master of her own fate, she would be the master of someone elses, and that is just not right. No one should have that kind of control over another person, she shouldnt have the right to decide whether that baby lives or dies.
by Anonymous13 years ago
If we believe that killing a fetus is just as bad as killing an adult, wouldn't we also believe that a woman who kills a fetus should get the same punishment as a woman who kills an adult? I don't see how a person could believe that abortion is murder but not think the woman who got an abortion is a murderer.
We know that thousands of desperate women would get abortions illegally if abortion was outlawed. If abortion is considered the same as murder, these women will be but into jail and might even receive the death penalty.
I don't think throwing formerly pregnant women in jail is right or fair and I know it won't solve any of our problems. I don't see how we could outlaw abortion without turning these poor desperate women into criminals.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well, I believe that a woman getting an abortion would be considered a murderer because she took away life.
As far as punishment for doing it if it were to be outlawed, I dont think the death penalty is ever right because you should have to live with what you did. I agree that clogging up our jails with women who got abortions would solve nothing. I'm more for a punishment that relates to the crime, say volunteering at an adoption agency or orphanage or something of the sort. At least that way, they are making up for what they did by servicing society and maybe even learning something.
by Anonymous13 years ago
If things were different, maybe it would make sense to outlaw abortion. For example, if we had a prison system like you described I wouldn't feel as sorry for the women who would be thrown in jail. If we had free day care and pre-school, forcing a woman to have a child wouldn't infringe on her ability to get an education and career. If foster care always gave children to sweet loving families, the huge numbers of foster kids wouldn't be a problem. If bearing a child were always safe and painless, making women continue pregnancy wouldn't be cruel.
I don't think we can really make all of those things happen. Under current circumstances outlawing abortion would be unfair and wouldn't solve our problems. In fact, outlawing abortion wouldn't do all that much to reduce the number of abortions. Sadly, desperate women would continue to get them only they would get them in very unsafe ways.
by Anonymous13 years ago
If only our country would develop a system like that. It doesnt seem right that those who break the law just sit comfortably in their cells and wait for their sentences to be up. I think it would make more sense to put them to some kind of work. A free day care center would be a great idea, they should have those anyway because day care is way too expensive for most people. Nowadays, giving birth is safe more often than not, and with an epideral it can be painless. I feel like a few moments of pain though would be well worth saving a life though.
I realize they would continue to get back alley abortions if they felt they had no other option. I think a center that offered free birth control would help a lot in preventing unwanted pregnancy, that way no one would have to feel embarrassed to get it and then they would always be protected.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I think that outlawing abortion would cause tons of problems and fix none. The most effective way of preventing abortion would be making childcare cheaper, adoption easier, and birth control more available. Reducing poverty will also reduce abortion. After all, a woman who works multiple jobs and can barley afford to feed herself is far more likely to get an abortion.
I completely agree about the prison systems. Prisoners should work. It would reduce the amount of taxes people pay and it would also give prisoners marketable skills so they could get a jobs instead of returning to a life of crime.
by Anonymous13 years ago
If men gave birth, abortions would not only be legal, they would be free.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Well then kudos to your God for allowing it to happen
