+960 Michael Vick's sentence was way too short. He killed at least eight dogs by shooting, drowning, electrocution, and beating. To only get 22 months for that would mean that the life of each dog was only worth about 9 weeks in prison. That is not nearly enough, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

and he's already back in the NFL!!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No amount of prison time will be able to "make up" for the loss of the dogs' life. The purpose of prison is rehabilitation.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But atleast you know his team mates wont look at him the same.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They all nominated him for a courage award D:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They were DOGS, just dogs. What the hell makes their lives any more valuable than the millions of farm animals that are killed every day. The time he spent in jail was more because the dogfighting was illegal, not because he killed the dogs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Im guessing you don't have a pet dog?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not currently, but I've had one and most of my friends have them. Just because dogs are "cuter" than other animals doesn't make them special. If it was cockfighting and he had killed eight chickens, people wouldn't care.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree with you on that, but the fact that dogs are cuter shows that it takes a much more twisted mind to kill so many of them like that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, it just shows a difference in cultural values.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

He was born and raised in America. It's not like in east Asia where dogs are sometimes eaten as food. It should be much more difficult for a mentally stable person to kill a dog then a chicken or something. Especially in the ways he did it. As I said in the post, he even beat some of them to death. I don't know about you, but I think that is evidence of a sick mind.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't mean differences between America and Asia. I was referring more to the differences between white America and black culture. Black people don't think of dogs the same way white america does.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've never heard of that before and I don't know if it's true. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. If this makes the homepage or anything, then we'll see if anyone knows more about it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well that's just my personal experience.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

made the home page hahaha. and wtf. no difference in that kinda culture in white and black america

by Anonymous 13 years ago

its wrong because he didn't just kill the dogs, he tortured them and forced them to hurt eachother. for no reason. it did not benefit anyone or anything besides his sick pleasure. if you dont think this is bad then i hope someone does it to you

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree it was cruel but not as bad as most people made it out to be.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not an animal rights activist or anything, but I have 3 dogs myself. And they do have feelings. It's obvious. They feel pain, they love their owners, they want to play and run around... To torture/painfully kill them is just cruel :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A chicken cant look at u with love like a dog can

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Does that make its life worth less? It's a double standard.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I disagree with the black culture comment. I'm black, was raised around black culture my whole life, and we don't all view dogs like that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Belle Noir): Same here but I was raised to believe that dogs are animals, they have feelings and all that but are still animals. No different than deer or coyotes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Should have been life. Anyone else would have gotten life.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

hey, i agree and all, but this is a repeat: http://www.amirite.net/94092

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That was me before I got my account. I decided to repost it and see if it would do any better.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh, thats good :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

He should have not been able to go back in the nfl. and ALL animals have feelings, would be just as sad if someone killed a chicken then if someone killed a dog. and the whole black/white thing is totally ridiculous. I've known many white people who hate dogs compared to black people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not saying that some white people don't hate dogs and I'm not saying that some black people don't love dogs, i should've been more specific. White culture generally cares more about the dogs because they are seen as pets and just part of the family. Where I grew up no one keeps a dog around unless they serve a purpose (like guard dogs) that's why they're no different from other animals.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The real outrage is that Donte Stallworth (less known NFL player) killed a PERSON, and only got like 90 days. Thats ridiculous.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It was manslaughter, not murder. He was driving drunk and hit some guy who was crossing a busy road where the speed limit was 40 mph. He wasn't in a crosswalk. He got 30 days jail time, 1000 hours of community service, 2 years house arrest, and 8 years probation. His Florida drivers license was permanently revoked. That punishment seems more fair then Michael Vicks was to me, although it still wasn't nearly enough.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The point is, he was driving drunk, and he killed a person. He took a life away. I don't think his family will tell you that's fair.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Like I said, it isn't a fair punishment, but it's fairer then Michael Vicks. He didn't kill that person on purpose. Sure he was being a dumbass, but he didn't premeditate the crime. Michael Vick meant to brutally kill all of the dogs and force them to fight.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree to a degree, but 1 human life>20 dog lives. Pre meditated or not.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay vick grew up seeing up dogfighting so I doesn't seem wrong to him and he served a longer amount of time than a normal person would have. Also how do you know what he did were you there? No I don't think so. Calm down he learned his lesson and is now teaching people to stop fighting so just get over it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

1. Your "You weren't there" logic could also be used to say that the Holicaust didn't happen or something else stupid. There's evidence to show what he did. 2. The average person would have gotten way more then 22 months! 3. I don't care if he grew up watching them. Many older people grew up in an openly racist society, but that doesn't mean that all older people are racist. Vick is an adult, and he should know the difference between right and wrong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The first point is stupid. However, I disagree with the second and third points. I don't think the average would even have gotten 22 months. When celebrities get arrested for this kind of stuff a lot of times the court tries to make a statement. He also pled guilty and had he cooperated it would only have been 12-18 months. Also, dog fighting is just a part of his culture. If you grow up with something and aren't taught that it's wrong, it's difficult to see the other side. Dog fighting was huge where he grew up. You have to take that into consideration.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A statement, hmm? So 13 days in jail for drug charges or 3 days for DUI (Charles Barkley) is a statement?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fuck anyone who abuses animals or other humans. There's a special place for you all in hell.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

jeez i could pop a glock in his mouth and make a brain slushy
