+742 It stops being "just an opinion" when you try to force it on me as a fact, and say that my opinion is wrong, amirite?

In no offence to anyone, that is what most religionists do. Not all, but certainly most of them.

(ArnoldVan Der Walt): No offense to any evolutionists, but that's what they do to kids as young as 6. Evolution is a theory, not a fact! And they teach it as a fact, and they use disproved evidence to make it more believable.

Evolution is not a theory in the colloquial sense of the word. In science the word theory has a very specific meaning and has nothing to do with how sure we are that it is true. Evolution is as close to a fact as science is able to produce. People who believe intelligent design over evolution are as rational and as unbiased as people who believe the moon landing was staged.

We could debate for forever and a day over this, and it wouldn't change anything. It's not fact. Not one person has witnessed macroevolution. Microevolution, yes. But not macro.

Macroevolution takes place over too long a period to be witnessed. We do however have detailed fossil records that show macroevolution. Obviously we don't have every fossil showing every transition in every species, this would be impossible, but we do have enough. I appreciate that I won't change your mind so I'm just gonna let the conversation end here. You may have the last word if you wish.

I'll pass.

(ArnoldVan Der Walt): I agree. As a Catholic, I see that we get a rep as being Bible thumpers, shoving our religion down everyone's throat. Not all of us are like that, I have no problem with anyone with different beliefs, unless they are rude about my religion.
