+578 Diets fail because people think of them as temporary things. People shouldn't say, "Oh, I'm going on a diet." They should say, "I'm changing the way I eat for life." Amirite?

I'm on the, "eat whatever I want but do enough exercise to burn it off" diet.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm on the "eat whatever i want and exercise about once a month and expect to get diabetes someday along with many other health issues but not give a fuck about it yet" diet.

Here's to being young!

Yolo.

Diets don't work because they typically include bad eating habits. Sure diets can make you loose weight fast, but you will only lose a bit then get desperate to lose more. People should eat healthy and exercise , and thats all there is to it.

The problem is that people go on those pills that trap fat and bla bla bla and then lose a shit load of weight, but then they stop the pills and maintain the same diet (which is what made them fat to start off with). They should ideally take the pills and change their diets and exercise simultaneously and then after a while drop the pills.

This? This is POTD? Seriously?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This? This is a comment on POTD? Seriously? I guess once people are in "complain about POTD mode" they stay in it forever.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Or not. Maybe these are just sub-par POTDs.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They are. The POTD should be something funny, or something that invokes deep thought, not the most legitimate opinion of the day. It should be something that seems better than your average homepage post. This is just not bare minimum to get homepage, but I wouldn't say it makes the cut for a POTD.

I actually like this POTD, and I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't bat an eye if this was a POTD before Ant sold the site. I think people are just expecting every POTD chosen now to be the most horrible thing ever and thus aren't giving it a fair chance.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I noticed that the POTDs were different (read: not POTD material) and I didn't even know that there had been a change in site ownership. I found out after. So it was definitely not a bias thing.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah. I only knew about the change like a week ago, but the site felt a bit 'sick' for a month before that.

I know we all hated on AppAwesome, but I almost feel like going all AppAwesome on this post. It's a good post, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't need to be POTD.

I guess I should have read all comments before making the previous comment.

"Diets" don't work because they are confused on what a diet really is. Many people think that a diet is losing weight, when reality a diet is what you take in. What people don't realize is that you have to CHANGE your diet to a healthy one to lose weight , instead of dieting to CHANGE your weight to a healthy one.

2/10.This website feels dead...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Sad that the POTD is getting less votes nowadays than homepaged posts a month ago.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Also because people think that they have to change from a diet high in fat and other unhealthy foods to no unhealthy foods, only fruit and vegetables. It's unrealistic, and when they mess up once they decide they might as well continue eating whatever, because they already failed.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well you know you're 200kg (Yes I'm using the metric system) you wanna drop to something normal, so you go on a diet and drop down to 130kg and then further into 90kg, an insane drop for sure but then you can stop. But this time holding the steering wheel so your life doesn't become such mess. Is there something wrong with this?

Eh, the amount of comments being deleted is better than before, but it still needs some work. I replied to someone talking about dangerous diets and ended up getting a reply too, but when I came back it was removed... While dangerous diets are slightly off from this and a bit sensitive, I would think that we'd be allowed to say things about it. It's not completely off-topic and I doubt many people would get their panties in a bunch just because I talked about it.
