Amen :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

they have such a bad rep because of the kind of owners they get, shame :I

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i think that only licensed people should own them. That would fix a lot of things.

Although this is about 90% true, pit bulls have been bred for aggression, and sometimes they just snap on their owners no matter how great a life they've given them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

not true. Pit Bulls (which is technically 3 different breeds) are bred to be less aggressive toward humans. They also bred for bull/bear baiting, which became illegal, so people resorted to dog fighting. They are bred to be aggressive toward animals, not people. Btw, do your research before you post something stupid.

Actually they are bred for aggression. That's what all the dog fighters breed for, and pit bulls are very popular among the dogs they use to fight. And if what I said is not true, then how do you explain certain things like that happening and hearing about it on the news. That's what people that use dogs for fighting do. They raise their animals to be mean and aggressive and torture them. That makes them mean towards humans since humans are the ones beating them. And those same "breeders" are so ignorant that they may dump them on the side of the road when they are done with them. Those dumped dogs may then roam wherever they like and breed with other dogs giving them the same aggressive characteristics (not the learned ones, but the aggression that has still been bred for before). Don't be so sensitive.

They are not bred for dog fighting (as I stated before). When the news headlines thing, do you think they waste their time researching that specific dog? The answer is no. They do not go through a breed identification test. Heck, if it look anything like a Pit Bull, that's what they call it. When dogs are abused, they fear humans, they don't become aggressive unless you get in their personal space. Breeders don't dump their dogs. People that buy adorable puppies, but get bored of them, or don't give the time to socialize them dump their dogs. And dogs that are not socialized don't confront people, they avoid people. I'm not sensitive, I just hate ignorant people.

If you don't think that some sick people breed and use dogs, especially pit bulls, for dog fighting, then you are sadly naive. And if they were legitimate breeders, then they wouldn't dump them. These are sick people that dump them off.

when I say breeders, I mean respectable dog breeders who care for their dog. I am agreeing with you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

good. now we've reached an understanding. I wasn't saying that pit bulls are a rotten breed or can't be great companions. I was just saying you have to be more careful these days.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, you're right. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@403770, I totally agree. Pit bulls will attack if they feel their territory is being invaded.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm pretty sure all dogs would bark at people they don't know when they get near their homes. And no,they don't,only if you make them grow up that way.

I have to disagree. My neighbor had pitbulls. She raised them very well. She had children who knew the pitbulls very well and they knew who she was and were always affectionate to the children. One child came home from school one day and was bitten by the dogs 150 times. She was in the hospital for a week. It is their nature. They are protective of the owner.

so she put it in the front yard? That would've led to disaster no matter what breed it was :I

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are you kidding me! No normal dog would ever attack like that just being in the front yard. You are a dumb ass. Let's put my golden retriever out in the front yard and see who he attacks! No, if they are trained properly, they should be able to handle it. Pit bulls tend to be a different case though many a time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm pretty sure dogs tend to attack people they don't know entering their house, they defend their owners,if they don't know someone they think it's an intruder, thus attacking him.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No the pitbull was in her house.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They should have been supervised.

My pitbull is a big chicken. He froze up and jumped on me once to get away from a chihuahua that barked at him.

something that i find interesting: although pitbulls are on the list of 10 dog breeds most likely to bite(mostly because of fight-trained dogs, not pets) poodles rank higher in their likelyness to bite and dachshunds, yes cute little loving dachshunds, are the #1 most likely to bite breed. if people knew the facts, they would realize that pit bulls are much better dogs than they are made out to be. also, they were once considered a royal dog only to be owned by kings because of their sweet, willing-to-please nature :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Only some Pitbulls are naturally aggressive, others have bad owners, and the rest are just like any other dogs who don't randomly attack people.
