unless the tattoo is actually a tribal symbol with meaning to someone with say, tribal roots-and not just some swirly pointy design lol.

There is always the possibility that the tribal symbol DOES have a deeper meaning. However, 9 times out of 10, it's some guy who says he's 1/12 Cherokee, or someone who thinks it looks "cool."

Where I am, a lot of the people actually are Pacific Islander/Maori where a lot of those tattoos originate so they have tribal tattoos.
