+545 If your relationship has to be a secret , you shouldn't be in it, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In most cases, yes. There are exceptions.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

some people dont want their friends to go all crazy like daring you guys to kiss etc

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Your friends should be more mature than that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Very rare exceptions, like racist/homophobic family. The ones that AREN'T valid exceptions? ... affairs, statuatory issues...

Sooo trueee

Or a family that doesn't agree with dating in general.

why is it bad to have a secret relationship?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Keeping it secret from family is one thing, keeping it a secret from like school mates or friends, is another. I've been in both situations and it usually ends badly. :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you feel the need to keep something like that a secret, there's usually a reason. Most of the reasons are bad. Love should never have to hide in the dark.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Unless of course your family would oh I don't know, DISOWN YOU or something for being gay or being in a biracial relationship,in which case it becomes rude of us to judge

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No secret relationships? I'll go alert Shakespeare so he can change Romeo and Juliet.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Plus, some families are just plain strict. It's not always about being racist or homophobic. My brother is 23 and she doesn't want him to date. That's why she doesn't know about either of our relationships.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same here, my parents hate the thought of their children dating, I could go on, but I won't.

She being my mother.

Especially Romeo & Juliet. Fucking idiots got killed b/c they didn't listen to their parents. They shouldn't have had a secret relationship.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i agree with the rare exceptions of racist/homophobic families...but must include religious families, too.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It depends, is it a secred from family or friends? If it's being kept secret from friends, you're right. If it's being kept secret from family (because the parents are a different political party or religion or something) then you're not.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you're ashamed of the relationship (like, just don't want your friends to know) you shouldn't be in it, cause that's unfair on the other person, and really yourself for giving into peer pressure. Ditto Homosexual and inter-racial relationships, they don't need to be hidden, they should be embraced and accepted, however, the awkwardness can occur when revealed to your family. But, hey, you can love the person you're in a relationship with just as much as your family, you just need to decide who's going to be there for you when you need them.

If the couple is over 50 and living in America, there is no legitimate reason for secrecy.
