I strongly agree upon your disliking on the situation of using larger groups of letters to sound more knowledgeably familiar than separate homo-sapiens but the conditions of feeling knowledgeable satisfies many and induces the problem in which you speak of.

People who misuse "ignorant". SO many people in my grade use ignorant all the time, but they have no idea what it really means.
