Although I agree to an extent. Movies about books do tend to be bad. However being able to share the experiance with friends and also seeing it does give one a sence of satisfaction

Hmm, to me it really depends Yes, lots of movies are not that good compared to the book version However, there also a lot of nice ones Or if it's simply based on a book, you should expect it to be different In it's own context, a movie from a book can be pretty good Not to mention it has saved many a lazy student

This is really stupid. A lot of great books were turned into great movies. We'd live in a cold sad dark world if we didn't have awesome movies like Jurassic Park, the Wizard of Oz, and the Princess Bride. Sometimes, the movies turn out way better than the books they were based on. I really don't understand why some people just hate movies.

Or Alice in Wonderland!

A lot of movies from books didn't work very well, but a lot of them were really good. And I know a lot of people who only started reading because of the movie, and now the read all the time

A lot of movies that are derived from books aren't good compared to the book because there is a lot of detail in the book that simply can't be put into the movie. In comparison, yes, the movie may not be great. But if you hadn't read the book then just the movie alone is usually likable. It's just something that people should take into consideration when they decide to critique book-based movies.

I really don't understand the "all books are better than all movies" mantra that seems to be popularly believed. You know, film is an extremely complex and difficult art form that can produce beautiful results. And contrary to popular belief, not all authors are geniuses. There are bad books, and there are great movie adaptations of good books. I think few would argue that it wasnt worth it to make To Kill a Mockingbird or the Grapes of Wrath or Lord of the Rings into movies. Books are not untouchable, and even if a bad movie is made, that doesn't take away the book's integrity.

It depends. I saw Twilight after I had already read the book and couldn't stop laughing at how gay they made it. Same with some parts of Harry Potter. You win some, you lose some. Therefore, I will be seriously pissed if they mess up the Hunger Games. I nearly peed myself in excitement when I found out they were making it into a movie =D

Shut up anon. I can't wait for __Hunger Games__ to come out.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

but then how would the illiterate know about harry potter or the hunger games??

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Lord of the Rings. Your arguement is invalid
