+428 When you drench a salad in ranch dressing, it kind of defeats the purpose of eating healthily, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

eh. you're still getting all the vitamins and nutrients from the salad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Except it's drenched in fatty dressing.

If their REASON for eating a salad is to be healthy, then that's true. But if they're eating a salad because they like the textures and tastes (or maybe just want something to put ranch dressing on), then why shouldn't they do what they want to it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Did you not read the post? I specifically mentioned the "health" factor. Having said that, the post is true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hey hey, no need to get testy. I did read it, and I said "If the reason for eating a salad is to be healthy, THEN THAT'S TRUE." (Last three words are the key) It's just most people talking about this subject are all "Dressing defeats the purpose of a salad!", but there is no one purpose of a salad. So I was just kinda getting off on that.

When the post specifically says something, you do not go off on things that were excluded, you fool. If the post said something about how t.v. is bad for you, you do not talk about how radios aren't as bad as ipods.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love you, brahur.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fool?? Good Lord, I haven't even been offensive or insulting, yet I'm getting called names. I wasn't really even disagreeing with the post. Also, that example wasn't the same at all. The post is about reasons for eating salads, which is what I'm talking about. I guess this is more a place for arguments and attacks than intelligent discussion.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You are an idiot. Nobody was talking about reasons to eat a salad like the textures and crap you were mentioning. It was about how dumping ranch dressing on the salad kind of defeats the purpose of a healthy food.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh my god....this is ridiculous. Everybody just loves to find someone to gang up on. I think "idiot" may be going a little far. I seriously haven't said one mean thing this whole time and I'm getting attacked. Ya'll have a good night, I'm gonna go do something better with my time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thats right douche bag. Walk away.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sorry, I can't walk away from that...how am I a douche bag?! What did I do? I never said anything mean. I'm respectfully disagreeing. And making a point to maybe start discussion? Discussion, not name calling and being offensive.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

look, my example was to state that you were talking about something that was unrelated to this post. You are a fool for thinking that by saying that pouring ranch on something has anything to do with why they are eating it.

Cereal was merely adding another variable to the equation. like one would add salt to someone else's kitchen made creation. it should not insult you that she added a dash of salt to your creation. Its all for a common goal. To make the food taste good. Why should we single her out for adding something to further a conversation on a forum?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

two things: 1)Why did you assume cereal is a girl; and 2) Just because they both involved salad does not mean that it shares a common goal to the original post by any means. You just are too stupid to tell though

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pfft I bet this is Cereal.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i agree

I am her friend in real. She said there was some name calling so, usually he who casts the first stone is to blame. A tangent about a related theme is never too shy from the original subject matter. Broaden your horizons, mate. dont restrict yourselves then justify yourselves by calling people names.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*facepalm* Fact: no one cares. And your stone reference is sooo irrelevant and makes absolutely no sense in that context. Just sayin'.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Obviously you do care because you're still on about it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hey, I don't eat salads to be healthy. I eat them because I like the taste. It is yummy, esp with ranch dressing. I also have Dr Pepper with my salads. Im just sayin'

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I bet you're obese.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Salads are the best, no matter how you make it :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Personally, I think you are wrong. You're still getting all of the nutrients and vitamins from the vegetables, only with added fat. Fat is necessary for a healthy diet. Also, most vegetables are fat soluble. Thus, in order to be properly absorbed by the body, it's actually quite helpful to have a fat-based dressing. That being said, completely dousing the salad in ranch dressing probably isn't the best idea. All in moderation. :)

Never thought I'd see people act so tuff on a post about salad. Im actually trying to live healthier, witch is what brought me to this page. My defense on the ranch is this: If a person is eating McDonald's every day, then replaces that meal with a ranch topping salad, you can't tell me that the salad becomes as unhealthy as the McDonald's meal. Obviously salad with no dressing is better for you then salad with, but saying a per ad on who comes from a fatty food lifestyle switching to eat ing salad with ranch won't make a difference, that's fucking retarded.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No one said this was in comparison to McDonald's...
