+351 You've always wondered if black people sunburn, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It would take them longer but yes, all skin burns eventually.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

wouldn't it be FASTER? because black absorbs and white rebels? correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the extra pigment blocks UV rays or something.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

and also, blacks have more melanin in their skin which is produced to protect one from the sun, so no - that's part of what happens when non-blacks tan... also you are breaking down DNA when you tan... just sayin'

by Anonymous 13 years ago

my mom's boyfriend is black and he thought her tanning lotion was sunscreen..... black people CAN in fact get burnt.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i thought black people didnt sunburn til it happened to me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same here.

ono

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It depends on your skin tone, only the really light skinned black people can burn.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that's definitely not true...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How many darker black people do you know of that have ever been sunburnt? It doesn't happen.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not really dark, but I'm not light either. I'm middle-skinned and I've gotten sunburnt.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, there's me. There's some of my family members. There's some of my friends. There's some other people that I don't really know but that I've heard talking about it. Obviously it does happen.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well it's never happened to anybody in my family and the only black people who I know that it's happened to are light skinned.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no i havent because i payed attention to 5th grade science and biology

by Anonymous 13 years ago

by Anonymous 13 years ago

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it's rare. I asked.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

One half of my family is from Africa but I'm mixed. I've never had a sunburn in my life. Even after going to the dessert. Maybe black people do after a really long time, but maybe mixed people don't at all.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

All people burn. The factor that determines how easily you burn is the amount of melanin in your skin.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You went to the dessert? I wanna go! I can't imagine how much you would burn THERE, though! Really, Though--didn't anyone ever teach you that dessert has two S's because you want more of them and DESERT (where I'm assuming you went) has one?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We do. I do frequently and I'm notthe lightest person ever. It usually depends on the genes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think it depends partly on genes. I'm half black, half white, have never used sunblock and have never gotten a sunburn..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't wonder. I know. We do. I got sunburned once. I was peeling for WEEKS. It was horrible.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We do, but it depends on how long we're out in the sun and genes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well i'm freaking GINGER and we burn AT ALL TIMES
