When I am, death is not. When death is, I am not. Then why fear what I cannot be? amirite?

I can't be a poisonous snake, but I know sure as hell I'm afraid of them.

Speaking as a fellow philosopher, I don't believe that Death is a being, rather an absent of being:)

I remember this poem.

But you're not fearing being dead, but not being when death does.
You fear of not being any longer.

its not death we fear. its right before death and the scary ways there are to die

Why fear what you cannot be? Because lots of things you can't be can hurt you. Like knives. :P

It's the fear of not being, mainly how that "not being" is accomplished and what you will not be able to do in that "not being".

I am not afraid of being dead, it will be just like before i was born. It's not like I will be lying there in the grave thinking about how it sucks to be dead or how I miss being alive. It is just nothing. What i am afraid of is taking my short life for granted and the actual process of dying.
