+272 The difference between old movies and new movies is that in new ones, every second word is "shit" or "fuck" in an attempt to make the movie seem interesting. Old movies don't need to try and impress people with bad language, because old movies all have solid story lines, amirite?

yeah, i accpet that. but there were way more good movies then than there are now.

Thats true .. I agree. Old movies had that elegance and sophistication of their own.. They were original, though I won't deny that the new flicks are innovative in their own way as well...

People say "fuck" and "shit" in modern movies because the movies are written in MODERN settings. When older movies were made, people would probably have been too freaked to use profanity so liberally in film. I don't see profanity being used to make a movie more interesting, but then I am 19 years old, so you may have had a younger demographic in mind when you made this post. Profanity is used as dialect of modern era. Without dialect, a movie sounds fake.

Back when those movies were made there was a strict obscenity law. Even standup comics weren't allowed to swear because they could get arrested, like Lenny Bruce.

While i agree older movies, classics are fantastic in their own ways, you cant say all movies today arent. We do have some pretty great movies now. A lot of them are basically crap, and have no story line - but there are so really great, original movies.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

All have solid story lines? All of them? I think not.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly! This post could not be correct because not all old movies are awesome, and there are plenty of new movies without a lot of cussing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've watched older movies with language. Maybe not black and white from the black and white era, but profanity isn't a new thing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There are plenty of bad old movies. We just don't know about them because nobody makes any effort to keep them popular.

American History X had about 200 f-words in it.

That's the generation is which are used now a days....... In old movies they don't have that much of creativity and much more new ideas but now the idea are infinite in every mind they are used in a different way

by Anonymous 11 years ago

the old movies have a good and sensible story without any vulgarity but new films also has good story write and directions but with vulgarity which is not essential for the films to become hit

by Anonymous 11 years ago

its not like that we have many good pictures too in the recent times..!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

it's surely correct that there is a lot of differences between the old and the new films.the languages used are also very abusive.but the new generation loves the one very bad
