Why do people HATE old bands? The old bands (Beatles, Who, Stones) all influenced today's singers, amirite?

Better question: Why do people hate jazz? Jazz influenced pretty much everything since the 20's.

What about classical? Beethoven was the original Iron Maiden. Nobody appreciates classical music anymore, even though it laid the foundation for...well, everything. What about the first cavemen to discover rhythm? Why don't people appreciate me banging on a garbage can lid in my yard? That shit was the foundation of the very concept of music. My point is, music evolves with the times. People should appreciate all forms of music, if not particularly enjoy them.

I don't hate the older bands, I just prefer to listen to newer stuff. I still appreciate those bands for influencing todays music.

I hate it how teenagers today "love the beatles" think they are all, "unique", i guess would be the word because they "listen" to an oldie band and they act like stuck ups because they think they are more musically cultured than the rest of us... even though these are the people that probably couldn't name any of the beatles' members and probably don't even know anything about the band or any of their songs. am i getting warmer yet?

not all teenagers are like that. some of us DO know a thing or two about old bands. I hate how adults today think teenagers are so stupid and dont know wtf they're talking about. just because they're older and know more about older bands than we do they act like we couldn't tell the difference between The Beatles and The Kinks because they knew about them "way back when".... even though these are people who haven't bothered giving us a chance instead of writing us all off as mindless zombies and probably wouldnt bother to talk to us about it anyway, because they figure that we don't know anything when it comes to music. am I getting closer?

I was just saying how I hate how *some* teenagers act like they like a certain "oldie" band just to seem cooler to everyone else, but really, they're just posers and have no idea what they are talking about.

Omg I knowww I especially hate it when someone's like "Ohemgee I LOVE John Lennon!" because he was "so into peace" and stuff, when really he was the biggest fit- throwing prick in the band. It's like, omg shut up you sound like a total moron right now... but actually, I think I only know like 3 people who even "pretend" to like old bands...

i know so many people like that, who like an old band like the beatles not because of their talent, but because it's the popular thing to do. and then they act all high and mighty like they're so "cool" and "independent."

Yeah, I'm pretty sure i listen to the Beatles and know who they all are, and what they did. Heck, I love Paul McCartney and the stuff he does now! I want to go to one of his concerts so badly.

I hate people who use the word "poser" in reference to liking something; as if you have to go creepy stalker on the band in order to appreciate them. Contrary to popular belief, that isn't the case, and being obsessed with a band doesn't make you cooler than a someone who takes it more casually. It *is* lame to pretend you like something that you don't, but if you didn't think being a "real fan" made you special somehow it wouldn't bother you.

I don't know anyone who really HATES these bands, they just don't appreciate them or care for the music or what have you. Personally, I like The Who. I haven't downloaded many of their songs, but the ones I have downloaded I like. The Beatles however... eh. I really never liked them and don't get the hype, to be honest. I'm more into Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, etc.

I was doing a presentation at school about 50s/60s/70s music, and this guy was all like, "Ugh, I HATE old music." Not only was that rude, it sort of pissed me off. You don't have to LOVE older bands, but at least respect them.

I respect older bands but don't particular like them. I am more of an late 80's until 2000's kind of person. The only thing that bothers me is when people go "You have no taste if you don't like The Beatles (or any other band)," especially when it is some poser-kid who doesn't know a thing about them. It's like, cool, they are a classic, but not EVERYONE likes them.

I don't hate them, but I hate how people are all obsessed with the oldies and are apparently too cool for new music. Some oldies are good, some aren't. I'd rather listen to Hendrix, Queen, or Johnny Cash than The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. I don't hate the latter, I just prefer other music. :P

If anything, I think that people are obsessed with the crap new music. I'm sorry to one of those who listens to them, but I would rather listen to the Beatles, the Who, the Rolling Stones, Queen, and basically any music within the late 50s to the late 70s (note: This is my opinion and strictly mine. Sorry but I hate The Beatles with a passion... They've become a fad in my eyes, they're like the only older band kids at my school seem to like, and in all reality i bet they couldn't name 5 songs and name the band members name: John Lennon is a free be -.-... But me I like the stuff thats harder and a little later, AC/DC my number 1 and best band ever with both Bon and Brian they rocked and still fill arenas, and also heavier, Iron Maiden so overlooked because everyone only knows The Number of The Beast and Run to The Hils seriously every albums (I'd exclude the Blaze era) are flawless, oh and also KISS I hate everyone only names them because of their make up and rock and roll all nite, listen to their other amazing songs... also don't tell me Stairway to Heaven is your favorite by Zeppelin because that's everyones and probably only the only song you know about them..

Everyone has a different music taste. People shouldn't be judged by the music that they like. Also, artists like Justin Bieber and Hannah Montana have at least some talent and a strong work ethic, or else they wouldn't have as many fans as they do.

Since when do you have to know all the members' names to be a fan of the band? Since when do you have to listen to entire albums to have a favorite song? Just because you're more educated in the ways of The Beatles doesn't mean other people can't say they love The Beatles. (I do know all the Beatles' names and about 100 of their songs, and I don't consider myself to be any more musically cultured than any of you.)

That's REALLY not what they're trying to say. It's like how it's practically become forbidden by law to dislike The Beatles. I personally do not dislike The Beatles but i think they are waaaaaaay overrated because of how everyone treats it like there's not a doubt in the world that they are the best band ever. What a lot of people don't seem to realize is that The Beatles are actually way more pop than they are rock, and i've just never been a big fan of pop.

Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Beatles, Guns n' Roses, BB King. All are legends. Of course there are hundreds more amazing artists which I didn't mention. But they are simply legends. I am not a poser, I play guitar :-)

I love old bands too...obviously, I'm the one who made this post...and just look at my icon. And I have to say Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney are sexier...but Mick Jagger isn't bad :) Of course I'm a bit biased on this, Beatles are my favourite band. And I agree, the Who don't get enough recognition.
