They are filmed differently. They are made cheaply so they use tape not film and the have more lights because they only use one camera so they need more lights so they can move the camera without readjusting lighting.

Haha. They look different because they use different fps or frames per second. Typical movies are made using 24 fps, while soap operas are made using 30 and sometimes 48 fps. If you've ever watched a soap opera in hd you'll notice how real it looks and smooth. That's because it has a higher fps. Sports are usually shot in 60 fps and above. The point is, it's all because of the fps.
