+293 twilight isn't half bad but all the fan girls just ruined it, amirite?

Twilight is terrible. The plot-line is completely unoriginal and borrowed from great novels. It brings shame to other, TRUE vampire novels. It tries to remain realistic (e.g. the vampires go to high school which then, makes is possible for Edward and Bella to fall in love) but at the same time, it's ludicrous at other parts (Edward a virgin after so many years? Yeah right.) All in all, it's what I would call a beach read: Fun to read but nothing substantial.

I didn't hate it but the characters bothered me. Edward was an absolute perv. Jacob needed to chill. Bella needed to get a life. Bad character development as well. And it was written poorly. I do agree with the statement that the fangirls made it worse.

I enjoyed the first book, but the second was so terrible I couldn't read the other two.

WRONG

The twilight fangirls aren't THAT bad. It's just that the HP fans hate Twilight more than Twilight fans hate Harry Potter, and the internet is dominated by HP fans. Example: "Jacob beats Edward any day." "OMG ITS A BOOK ITS NOT REAL TYPICAL TWILIGHT FAN YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE YOU ONLY LIKE TAYLOR LAUTNERS ABS." "My Hogwarts letter must have gotten lost in the mail." "Hahahahahahah I love this <3" I know that "the HP fans are just joking" but so are the twilight fans." Yes, some Twilight fans are over the top, but so are some Potterheads. Btw I like both books equally.

No way. Twilight is just horrible. Bad character development, a whiny and annoying heroine, anti-feminist ideas, bad rolemodeling, a stalkerish and borderline abusive hero, plot-hole packed, repeated story lines and it's poorly written (resorting to over-exaggerated prose to fill the pages, with continuos descriptions of Edward's features with heavy thesaurus-abuse). Don't even get me started on the butchering of common vampire law. I don't think it even deserves to be called "not half bad". Personally, I couldn't care less about the fangirls. It's the fact that this book gets so much publicity, when there are so many others out there which are far better which deserve popularity which they don't get. I agree with Etherial in saying it's a "beach read".

My friends made me read it, and I enjoyed it back in middle school. That's when majority of the girls in my school and a bunch of fangirls who are like "OMG EDWARD OMG JACOB I WISH I WAS BELLA" happened. Like, yes, I've matured and realized that they aren't as good as I thought they were, but the fangirls blew it over the top.

It's one of those books that draw you in when your reading them, but then you finish the series, take a step back, and think 'What the heck was that terrible thing?'
