Ya, I'm really bad for that.. haha. I didn't want to hang out with a friend one day so I said "My Uncle that I never see is down for a visit." I don't even have an Uncle! & Another time I said I had to bake my mom a birthday cake :p (I didn't.)

Thanks! Ya, my friends believe them.. But I'd never say something as stupid as" my Grandma's cousin's half-step-son is having surgery and I need to buy them jellybeans!" Did somebody actually say that to you?

nope, just an exaggeration. but it does seem as though a random relative i know doesnt exist suddenly needs her to visit them out of town, or yet another friend is having a baby and needs a breathing coach or other such nonsense occurs on a regular basis. lame!
