+447 Mosquitoes don't get rid of smaller bugs (like spiders) or even remains of dead things (like flies), THEY ARE THE MOST USELESS INSECTS ON THE EARTH, amirite?

I'm waiting for the people who voted "No way!" to give me their reasoning before voting.

They kill off large amounts of people by transferring viruses and bacteria. Like it or not, we have far too many people on Earth, so any means of getting rid of them should be embraced. Mosquitoes kill of millions upon millions of people every year. They're also a huge source of food for bats and birds. Without them, bird/bat populations would plummet. This would also effect anything that feeds on bats/birds, plus we would see a massive increase in every other kind of insect.

I used to think so too, but unforunately: http://www.google.com.hk/search?q=what+good+are+mosquitoes&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

The only thing they are good for is being a food source for birds, fish, spiders, and bats. However, all of those animals eat many other things in addition to mosquitoes, which are really just a secondary food source.

Did you even read any links from google? They're one of the best carriers for bacteria and viruses, just to list one more reason. That's of course no good for us, but it is important for the ecosystem.

you have me there lol, I guess I just hate them with a passion and decided to post it on amirite :P

I understand. I hate them immensely as well lol and I did secretly wish that we can annihilate their species. And then I googled to find out why we haven't done that, then there's the reason!

Why would we want viruses

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We don't, but biologists and the ecosystem do.
