Did you know Spongebob was supposed to be an adult show? Like something that would be on Adult Swim? I think that's why the earlier episodes were the funniest. Now they just try to market towards kids which is LAME.

Simply because Spongebob contained jokes that only adults would understand, doesn't mean it was supposed to be an adult show. It irritates when me people present things as facts without actually knowing for sure that what they're saying is true.

It started out as an unknown comic, then was pitched to Nickeloden with jokes that would apply to mature audiences as well as younger ones. No plans to be an adult show.

I actually think it's the opposite. I mean seriously, do you realize how violent Tom and Jerry was? Now they have shows like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I don't really think that's inappropriate.

If you mean **kids** cartoons, then no. But if you mean cartoons in **general**, then probably yes, because you have things like Family Guy and The Simpsons and Friendship is Magic and South Park that are cartoons, but aren't really targeted at children. So I suppose it just depends.
