+642 You want to punch a grammar Nazi in the face when you see one hating on a forgiener whose first language isn't English. No one cares if they spelled "restaurant" wrong, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Agreed. It's a different story, however, when an idiot repeatedly misspells words with less than 5 letters.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

sume 5 letter werds are harder than they look. :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah, like "words"

ironically, the biggest grammar nazi i know on this site is Spain

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm a grammar Nazi, but if someone says that English isn't their first language I back off. English is really hard to learn, and I have to respect someone who's multi-lingual.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They do say English is the hardest language to learn. I'm doing English Literature and Language A levels and my spelling is atrocious, it's no big deal, as long as something is readable.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Except you wouldn't be a Grammar Nazi if you were correcting spelling.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thank you. It is not like we enjoy misspelling things, and we try our hardest.

*foreigner

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the funny thing is, I remember how to spell restaurant in English by the way it's pronounced in Spanish haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I believe the correct term is "Grammar Death Eater." Jeez, people these days...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can't even spell restaurant. The only reason I learned is because that damn red line underneath it every time I type it on Safari.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well personally I can't usually tell if someone is foreign or not... Obviously if they say they are then everything's fine, you can't blame someone for misspelling something if English is their 2nd (or even 3rd or something) language... :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*no one cares if HE or SHE spelled "restaurant" wrong. It's called pronoun-antecedent agreement.

I don't give a fuck what Grammar Hitler says, I'm not going to write "he or she" every time I'm refrencing someone whose gender I don't know. Even if it's not official, the de facto meaning of "they" has been expanded to cover that role.

I know, I know... sorry, I didn't mean for you to take it the wrong way. I just thought that since the post was about grammar, it was funny that that error was in there. At least, I thought it was funny. Sorry if it pissed you off.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wasn't pissed; sorry if it looked like that. I didn't see the irony at the time although I do now :)
