+341 It's sad that a cup of coffee needs to be padded, caution-labeled, nutrition labeled, and served with a spill-proof top. I would think that if you're old enough to drink coffee you would know it's hot, that it can spill, and that it has caffeine and possibly dairy and/or sugar in it! All that effort is probably why they charge upwards of $4! amirite?

In America, there has been and probably will be more dumb fucks who don't want to take responsibility for their own actions and get money out of it. So, yes, I think they make those caution labels to avoid such lawsuits, which is sad that they have to in the first place.

A few years ago, someone accidentally spilled some coffee on their lap and got burned, and then sued McDonald's for not having any "Caution: HOT" warnings on the cup. And it worked.
