+540 You would sacrifice your life to save a hundred people, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Depends who the 100 people are.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Agreeed!! I think...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think you're supposed to see it as 100 random people you don't know.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree with carson. if the people were all serial killers, I wouldn't sacrifice my life, but if they were all innocent people, i would.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I would in theory, but I'm not sure if I actually could kill myself.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I doubt half of us who agreed actually would. I think I would, but when it comes down to it, would I? Depends entirely on the method of death.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I could probably swallow a pill or drink poison or something, but that's about it. I also agree with what parrotgirl siad above; if it was 100 serial killers/rapists or 100 people on their deathbeds, then I probably wouldn't do it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I still would (in theory.) A life is a life. Maybe I probably wouldn't if they were on their deathbeds. That's like cheating :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Agreed

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wouldn't want to kill myself but I wouldn't want to live with the guilt of letting a hundred people die, and possibly ruining a hundred families' lives just so that I could live. It's a really tough choice

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There was a movie out maybe a year ago (Cameron Diaz was in it) and the premise was you push a button, one random person dies and you get a million dollars. With that million dollars you could save a lot of people's lives (starvation, malaria, even helping to find a cure for something). I just thought this was relevant.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I"d press that button. Repeatedly. I think there was a WKUK sketch about it, and I can relate to it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes- it was called the Box! It was actually first a short story, my english teacher had us read it for extra credit :P But in the short story, the wife's husband was the person that died and in the movie someone in your family had to die or something. creepy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, so it was someone you knew that had to die. That makes it a lot more interesting. Even if one of my family members told me to kill to to save a hundred people, I don't think I could do it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Nah, they didn't tell them that their family member had to die. In the short story, the rules were- if you press this button, someone you don't know will die, and you will get $150,000 (that was a lot back then i guess.) So the lady pressed the button even though her husband didn't want her to, and her husband died because she didn't know her husband well enough. And the 150,000 was from her husbands insurance. In the movie, the rules were the same, but what they did was once one person pressed the button they got a million dollars and then the guy gave the same offer to other random people. once they pressed the button, the person before who took the offer would get killed. and it went in a cycle like that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, that's crazy. I want to read/see it now. Thank you for enlightening me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Your welcome :D It's really a pretty interesting movie and book.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I never did see the whole movie, but I figured it'd be something like that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't think I'd press that button. Like, how random is random. What if I pressed the button and my husband or child died? D;

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That movie sucked beyond all belief. I did find the scene where he was in her backyard REALLY creepy though...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I feel like by agreeing, I just signed some sort of future contract with the angel of death or something.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's a hard one.....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not to sound condescending, but I'd do it for one.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I would feel extremely guilty, but I just don't think I could do it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I voted yes but I felt like I was jinxing it so I put no way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I would do it if I got recognition for the sacrifice, and a big ass THANK YOU!!! , otherwise no. Although, that does sound kind of selfish.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't know what I would do D:!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'll never find out untill I have to make that choice. Thank God for that. I don't know if I could live with myself if I chose myself over them...:'(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i would like to select the 100 people

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(jennagee) oh man I'm scared now, lol. I still would save the people though. Everybody dies and you would get to die a hero.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I voted yes, but I won't judge those who said no. Some of us may just be THAT scared of death. Anyways, it would depend on the situation. I may be less willing with certain people in terms of background.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Jesus did it:D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

He saved a lot more than 100.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i realize this:) haha
