+283 It's really sad that when I tell people I'm LDS (or Mormon) they immediately say something about polygamy. Um, no, that was outlawed in the 1800's. amirite?

Purely in response to the polygamy thing above-- It still happens. There are polygamist communities. Several in AZ and UT. Whether it's outlawed for certain or not, it happens.

But it has nothing to do withthe LDS faith. The RLDS and the FLDS groups that were doing that stuff broke off from the LDS church, and twisted things that we believe in-we (the LDS members) shouldn't be judged for what they do. We do not practice polygamy.

I wasn't replying to the religious aspect of this--just the polygamy bit. Everyone was saying polygamy didn't happen anymore, and it does. I wasn't saying it was every single Mormon--because I know it's not. It's not even part of the religion, honestly. I'm just saying, polygamy still happens. Even if there are laws. That's all.

Those who still practice polygamy are not Mormon, they belong to different sects

Those friggin polygamists make all us Mormons look bad -_-

"Hey, I think you're really nice and I'd like to get to know you a little better. So, would you go out with me?" "Sorry, I can't. I'm mormon." FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. :(

Awesome Mormons on amirite, that just made my day

As off topic as it is, we can do the same thing with Muslims and terrorism.

Totally true. Most religious stereotypes aren't true. Maybe back in the Middle Ages they were but most people aren't like that anymore.

That's right. Polygamy isn't part of the main Mormon religion ... because Utah being a state was more important. hehe
