-199 Those who pursue happiness are less likely to be happy, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That is an absolutely illogical and nonsensical thing to say. I can't imagine how anyone could agree with that... tell me, op, how do you propose one becomes happy without trying to going out and doing that which makes you happy? Do you really think that if you just sit around doing nothing, happiness will fall in your lap? Sincerely, I'd *love* to know the rationale behind this post.

I'm terribly insulted, take it back :( you have your opinion and everyone else has theirs. So congrats, if you feel differently shove your views down someone elses throat who actually gives a fuck. Better yet make your own amirite post! Wahoo! This is amirite and no one wants to listen to your bitching. Ok? Cya cutie!!

I think I know what you were TRYING to say(something along the lines of if you try too hard to get happiness for yourself, it won't come....it's hard to word), but you did not word this well...

As a corollary, those who sit and cry will be happy

Sometimes you need to take a break from your pursuit happiness and just be happy, amirite? People think happiness is someone unattainable goal, when really it is a state of mind.

better wallow in my self pity and wait for the happiness to overcome me.

This make sense in a way.

i think op is saying that it's hard to be happy when your only focus is to be happy, rather than setting and accomplishing goals for yourself which will, in turn, make you happy, or just doing things that make you happy. like if you just focus on the end result of being happy you won't be able to enjoy things as much...something like that. i makes sense in my head haha.

This. OP is saying to do what you like, and happiness will come- not suggesting that sitting in self pity will cause happiness to fall into your lap. Running around saying "WILL THIS MAKE ME HAPPY? WHY AM I NOT HAPPY YET. I NEED TO BE HAPPY. MAYBE IT'S MY JOB *quits* OR MY FAMILY *leaves* I NEED TO FIND HAPPINESS" is no better.

"Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things it will come and sit softly on your shoulder." In the words of Henry David Thoreau. Smart man.
