What's the point of cheerleaders? They cheer them on...it just makes them disracted, and they lose, they yell at the fans to cheer, and they jump up an down and get in the way of the game. amirite?

If the cheerleaders have a good bond with the team, then it actually pushes them to try harder, because they know we're there for them. My squad was really close to all the football players and it was nice that we all supported each other, even though they did lose all the time :p haha.

It's not distracting because I'm guessing mostly girls agreed with this therefore you have NO idea how focused the football players are. They don't get distracted by the cheerleaders, and often the cheerleaders are the only ones cheering if the game goes badly, enabling them to stay motivated. Also, cheerleaders bust their asses in competitions, which I doubt most people on this site could even attempt the things they do. And no, I'm not a cheerleader. However my best friends are and it pisses me off when people try to say shitty things about them.

they deserve it, i can do twice as must stuff as they can. (i should know, i was a cheerleader my first years of high school. which is why i think they are useless now.) And if the game goes badly, and they keep cheering, everyone just wants them to shutup and get off the field. All the girls i was in cheerleading with were total stuck up bitches.

Thank you for that! I;m a cheerleader and I know for a fact that cheerleaders do NOT distract the football players. And if they are distracted they must not be concerned about winning at all. @478940 and just because the small group of girls that you cheered with were stuck-up bitches doesn't mean they all are. I've been cheering for a while and I've never met cheerleaders like that. @478584 You must be talking about pro-cheerleaders which aren't really even cheerleaders they just dance around the majority of the game. But REAL cheerleaders are NOT half naked girls jumping around.

I used to think the exact same thing when I was a competitive cheerleader. But now that I cheer for my high school I can totally say that high school cheer is harder that all-star cheer. We have practice everyday where as all star cheerladers may have it at most 3 times a week. And we don't just do sideline we compete too.

Cheerleaders are kind of boring. I'm in Marching Band, it's really fun, but it's freaking hard too. I don't know if Cheerleading is all that hard, but Marching definitely is.

well if the game takes a bad turn and UR whole side of the field is pissed off and booing, it's just going to put u off ur game if ur a football player & knowing ur own school is booing you or given up on u. a lot of people actually appreciate the cheerleaders being there so stop being so prejudiced. not all cheerleaders are bitches - of course SOME will be, just because there are some bitches in EVERY sport and organization out there, no group is 100% bitch free nobody can deny that

Sideline cheering is kind of blehh. They barely let us stunt out on the field. But competition, now that was a challenge! And we are not stuck up bitches, thanks. I've only seen that in movies.

If the players can get that easily distracted by us cheerleaders then they aren't focused at all on winning the game.We don't even face towards them during the game unless someone gets hurt. I've never seen a football player get distracted by a cheerleader EVER.I'm a cheerleader I know this.(Except for those pro football players, but they don't even have real cheerleaders they're basically dancers in sparkly swimsuits.)
