+546 Pink is the only lighter shade of a colour, that's recognized as a 'new' colour. There's light blue, light green, light purple, light orange, light yellow and there's a light pink, but not a light red instead it's called pink. Amirite?

Gray.....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well grey isn't technically a colour, it's a shade.

Don't Russians think of light blue and dark blue as two seperate colours? I could've sworn I read that in a QI book...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distinguishing_blue_from_green_in_language#Russian You win. But yeah, lots of languages distinguish color differently than we're used to.

Also, lavender is light purple.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lavender is light purple but people don't say light lavender.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Chartreuse is light green

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've never heard of that colour before lol but I'll take your word for it. I'm sure people don't say light chartreuse though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's actually puke green.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pink is not the only term like that (as the two comments above me points out) it's just more popular.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah I know it's not the only term but I was talking about the main/most well known colours. If that makes any sense?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Iv never heard of light black either, I know it as grey.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Grey is more of a shade not actually a colour

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Is it a shade of white, or black. It could be dark white, or light black, but either way it doesn't sound right and I think grey deserves to be its own color since it has its own characteristics.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I meant that black and white aren't really considered colours, because they are usually referred to as non-colours or shades rather than neutrals, because black is actually the absence of light and white is all of the colours meeting in one point through a prism.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

grey. lilac. azure. etc.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i paint, and i can PROMISE you that when i'm trying to paint something pink, mixing red and white doesn't get me even close to the right shade (it makes a sort of rose color, but not *pink*). you have to go to the store & buy pink paint. it's not just light red.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Orange is light brown, and grey is light black.. Fail.. And to those saying like, lilac and stuff; that's light purple.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah. Everyone has said that grey= light black and lilac and lavender= light purple. So, you just explained to everyone what they already knew

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Orange is NOT light brown. If you have a watercolor set and lighten the brown, it doesn't turn out to be orange. Red and yellow make orange.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ummm.black and white are colors they're considered nuetral

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually they are usually referred to as non-colours rather than neutrals, because black is actually the absence of light and white is all of the colours meeting in one point through a prism.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh thanks for clearing that up!
