ATTACK OF THE GRAMMAR NAZI: it's e.i or e.g not ex

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm going to assume you mean "i.e." and not "e.i.", because I've never heard of "e.i." I.e. actually means "that is to say" or "in other words". So in this post, i.e. wouldn't be correct because i.e. confines it to one example and obviously, this post can be applied to more than just Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. E.g., however, would be correct because it means "for example". For those who can't be fucked to understand what I just said, The Oatmeal will break it down for you: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/ie

I was trying to think of an example, but the only thing I could think of was chips and salsa, not salsa and chips. I'm hungry, can't help it :P

My twin is called ashleigh and she is the oldest so people always say Ashleigh and Kelsey. Because of that I always say Ashley and Mary-Kate even though MK is eldest and it sounds wrong.
