That's an inconsistent statement. There are some athletes who are really smart. Plus it's harder for them too keep up with their schoolwork because they also have to focus much of their time on sports instead of school. they don't have a ton of time for schoolwork so they have to work harder for their grades.

That is true, but the purest meaning of the word "scholarship" is about academics. "Athletic" is the opposite of that, making the term, "athletic scholarship" an oxymoron.
