+293 Love is the most painful thing on Earth, but without it life is pointless, amirite?

Not just romantic love either but also family love and other types of love.

What is more painful than an emotion? Physical pain. I am sure you would be hurting for longer if I stabbed you than if I dumped you, and there is a point to life that doesn't revolve around love (but can sometimes be helped by this) which is to carry on the human race.

what would hurt more a stab wound or loosing your parents?

Well, the loss of people you love is always hard to take, but it's something you can recover from. But if you get stabbed, there's a risk you might not make it. I'm not a completely heartless bitch, but I look at things in a fairly practical way. So yes, love is pretty painful, but it's not going to kill you.

another way to look at it is that you recover from your stab wound, but have to live every day without someone you love.

Perhaps, but that doesn't make love the most painful thing on Earth. Another way of looking at it is "that which does not kill me can only make me stronger."

I wasn't arguing with you, I was just saying that this is all perspective; everything would be different depending on the person and the situation.

Stop the crappy spam on the homepage. You'll notice, however, that this post is from about a year ago too.

It's not love that is painful, it is the rejection, betrayal, abandonment, etc. that sometimes follows love that is painful. Love in and of itself is not painful.

I imagine murderous sociopaths would disagree.
