+345 "No two snowflakes are the same," Yeah, no. I'm sure that in all eternity, there have been two snowflakes that are the same. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Naaah. There could have been slight deformities. Not the same, but extremely similar.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You could say the same about fingerprints too, my friend. But alas, it is not true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i got in a huge argument with my teacher about this

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you count the molecules and everything, no.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It is really scary that so many people agree with this. Education epic fails. =/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

For all the dipshits agreeing with this, THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY THERE ARE TWO OF THE SAME EXACT SNOWFLAKES. Listen to everybody above me, except for Ghost because he/she is an idiot.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Generally, I would agree with that. But can you REALLY prove it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not like you could prove otherwise either. It's a circle of neverending debate, like religion. :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Very true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What do you mean "in all eternity"?! Snowflakes haven't existed in all eternity.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wow, gtfodumbass said something correct. Mind mildly blown.

Actually it has been proven that if you take two snowflakes that come from the same cloud, they can look the same.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"Looking" the same is not the same as "being" the same. The ways that ice crystals form are infinitely random; NO TWO SNOWFLAKES ARE EVER IDENTICAL. EVER. This is not a subject that leaves room for debate.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well the same could be said for ANYTHING. No two will be the same

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Omfg!! No, this is not a circular, unprovable argument!! Not any more than "no two fingerprints are identical" is debatable!! These are *not* issues that science is unsure about. Wtf are schools good for anyway? Did any of you bother to look this shit up and find facts? No two ice crystals of any kind... even formed under identical conditions with identical water... are EVER completely identical. Man, the world is really in trouble when these kids take over.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But there's no way to actually prove it: I mean, it's not like anyone has ever actually inspected every single snowflake.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You wouldn't need to. As long as you understand how they are created you would know that it is physically impossible for two completely identical snowflakes to form.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The same, as in atom by atom? Hell no. Even if they did have the same amount of atoms, they wouldn't be in the exact same place as the other snowflake. It's an incredibly improbable probability.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

By your logic, nothing could ever be proved because no one lives forever. It is also false logic. Science doesn't throw around absolutes... and this is one. If they were even slightly unsure it was true, it would be listed as a theory, but it's not. So quit arguing with people who know wtf they're talking about and pay attention in science class.

I voted yes cause my reasoning is that while is impossible for two things to be exactly the same, I think the Op meant that across eternity there have been at least two flakes with the same basic shapes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That is what I meant, actually. There's probably been no two that have all the same molecules exactly, buut yeah.
