+82 There's a reason why women are seen as whores when they sleep around and why men are seen as bad asses if they sleep around, and it can be explained by this analogy; A key that can open a bunch of locks is the master key, but a lock that can be opened by many different keys is a shitty lock, amirite?

This has been posted a million times, just like all the other posts that think they're uncovering something deep

The double standard isn't there because of the analogy, the analogy is there because of the double standard. It's just a history of women, who are supposed to be "fragile" and protected, versus men, who are supposed to be dominant.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Sorry, but there will always be a double standard for women and men because women and men are different, not the same. That's not to say, however, that they are not equal in terms of worth. Because they are. This analogy was just for shits and giggles, though. In truth, if you sleep around you are a whore whether or not you're a man or a woman.

the fact that this is upvoted saddens me deeply

You're not very popular with the ladies, are you?

well that's just sexist un

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No really?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I am not an object, and therefore would appreciate it if you did not compare me to one. Kthnx.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's the point of a comparison. So if someone said "you're as strong as an ox" you'd say "I am not an" ox, "and therefore would appreciate it if you did not compare me to one" or something like that?

I really hate this analogy, it's so fucking sexist, it makes me angry.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I really don't get why it's different for men and women. If you're having meaningless random sex with an unhealthy emotional connection to the person you're with or if you're doing it for the wrong reasons, it's wrong no matter what your gender is. If you're not hurting yourself or anyone around you emotionally, mentally, or physically and you're using protection and willing to own up to it if a one night stand ends up going wrong, it shouldn't be a huge deal no matter what your gender is. I don't like the idea of random meaningless sex anywhere for any reason, but that's because of religious reasons. It still doesn't automatically make a person bad for doing it and I honestly have no place or reason to look down on anyone. Regardless, gender doesn't mean anything when it comes to sexual roles.

I'm really thankful for all of the people who No Way'd this.

I said this to my older sister once. The next day when I got home from school she wouldnt let me in the house. I kept banging on the door and screaming at her to unlock it and she just kept saying "Youre a key right? Unlock it yourself." I was pissed at the time but now I can see why this analogy would bother girls so much.. its really sexist
