+412 It's not littering if it's biodegradable, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"Litter consists of waste products such as containers, papers, and wrappers which have been disposed of without consent." So... yes it is.

well none of those things are biodegradable, so I win.

There are such things as containers and papers that are biodegradable. But if you leave them in the middle of a field, it is still littering. Don't make excuses for your laziness.

Still, I'm not going to start throwing orange peels out the car window when a policeman is around.

YES! I've advocated this for the longest time. the police officers in my town seem to agree with me, too. They'll fine me if I throw out an aluminium can or any kind of plastic, but they've encouraged me to throw apple cores, banana peels, orange peels and other various fruits and vegetables. Not paper though.

Not really, since many "biodegradable" materials can still take decades to actually degrade. Unless you're just talking about organic waste like sestrada above me -- but even still, you wouldn't want your city to be covered in apple cores.

Throw--or at least kick--your food into the ground, and it will biodegrade! (It won't work on concrete)

That's exactly what I mean. Like a cookie, even. I'm mostly referring to food.
