+318 Wearing jeans with your dress does not make you prudish or too conservative, amirite?

Okay, there is a girl in one of my classes who always does this and it usually (always) looks bad. Here is my suggestion: you can wear jeans (preferably skinny jeans, they just look better) if a dress is an inch or more above fingertip length. Also jeans look good with tunic-y types shirts that fall around the crotch area. If it's longer then fingertip length, wearing jeans normally just looks awkward and defeats the purpose of a dress. If you are more on the modest side, I would recommend buying legging to wear with dresses you are uncomfortable with the length. Trust me wearing a really cute dress with jeans, just ruins the cuteness of the dress in most cases.

Well, I think OP means like an oversized shirt. If it's a long-ish, cute, dress, you don't wear jeans. If it's warmer weather, you don't even wear leggings. I have a long shirt that goes a little past my butt that I wear skinny jeans with. It all depends, though!

Unless you're Lacey Sturm. :)

Couldn't have said it any better! :)

I wore a short dress over my jeans once because I ran out of clean shirts, and I got a lot of compliments on my outfit that day. XD

well no ... but it just looks weird sometimes. It can look cute if the dress isnt too long ( above fingertips) and you wear dark super skinnies under it. but when youre dress is like down to your knees and yor wearing straight leg light jeans ... you look stupid and its not cute at all

ugh, i knew this girl who did this. if you think its too short, or if its cold, leggings look way better, and look like they belong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

just depends on the style of dress/shirt.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah I agree that it just depends on the length and style of the dress. AND the person. Not everybody can get away with it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yes, but it ruins the look and point of the dress.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, you don't look prude-ish. You look stupid.

Well if it's a really long dress and you're wearing flare jeans, that does look weird. But if you were a dress shorter than your fingertips or a tunic type shirt and you're wearing jeggings, that looks good.

WHO CARES? Everyone should be allowed to wear what they want without being judged.

I wish I could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy...

uh... she doesn't even go here!

What the heck is this finger tip business?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are you a girl? It's known by most girls a dress is acceptable length if it comes to about where your fingertips hit the side of your thighs when standing or longer. If it's shorter then that you can start to look risque/inappropiate.

no, but you do look like a twat.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Of course not, it makes you tacky

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's probably one of the biggest fashion faux pas.
