+287 As long as there is religion, there will never be peace, amirite?

any religion. as long as one group of people want to argue their ways against another, peace can never come. That is a fact. Peace is impossible to reach as long as religion exist. People can argue, their religion is better or good, but you are a part of the problem, not the solution. If you join ANY religion, you are the problem towards peace ever becoming a reality.

Actually, most universalizing religions will give up on those who are strong-willed. I think secularism is sad, it's the loss of culture and faith in those who fear being judged.

and please don't call me a problem towards peace ever becoming a reality. I'm no extremist.

Apart from Buddhism. Buddhism promotes peace and acceptance. But, truly, Buddhism should never be included anyway because it is a faith, not a religion.

well, there are other ethnic religions, too. Believe it or not, Judaism does nothing to try and convert people to their religion. It's mostly a hereditary religion.

Christianity, Islam, and Judaism all promote peace and acceptance too... I don't see how Buddhism has done any better of a job.

There will never be peace. <-- full stop

well, multiple religions.

I disagree...tolerance is the route to peace. Let people have which ever religion they like, as long as let others do the same in turn.

I'm Christian, and we are taught religous tolerance in addition to spreading our religion. We try and (in our belief) save people by converting them, but also not to attack any religion. Those who will not change will not, and the genuine Christian will know that and not badger people.

The OP must be an agnost - so in effect, she is saying "As long as there are people who disagree with me (i.e. religious people) there will be conflict; there will only be peace if everyone agrees with me." This is no different from a Christian saying "There will only be peace if everyone is a Christian" or a Muslim saying "as long as there are non-Muslims there will be war." I couldn't disagree more. The real source of conflict is people unable to respect the opinions of others and giving up on peace until everyone becomes like them. Plenty of peaceful countries have shown that you can tolerate multiple religious views and have peace, and there's no reason this can't be spread to the world at large without converting everyone to one religion first.

I believe the OP is saying that as long as everyone has different views from each other, then peace will never be found. (s)he isn't saying "Bitch, agree with me or the worlds gonna get fucked up." (s)he's saying that because of religion, everyone has different views from each other ((Ex: Christians worship God, Atheists don't believe in God or the Devil, Satanists worship the Devil)) Those three things are so different that peace could never happen unless religion was abolished and we all came to an agreement on what happened. But people are stubborn, and that will never happen.

"Because of religion, everyone has different views from each other..." - How are religions to blame for this? It's also true that because of atheism and agnosticism, people have different views from each other. And my point was it's also not true that people with different beliefs can't peacefully coexist. They peacefully coexist all over the place, just not everywhere.
