+433 Why was Mewtwo Pokemon #150 and Mew #151. Shouldn't it be the other way around, amirite?

I agree, but maybe it's in the order they're shown to the audience? I'm pretty sure we learn about mewtwo before mew. I could be wrong though >.>

I'm actually 100% sure of this. Does anyone remember Pokemon Snap, where you would have to take pictures of Pokemon during your travels? Mew was the last one to have to take a picture of.

It was so they could lie about Mews existence in Red and Blue, and have it only attainable through a glitch that I have still never been able to pull off.

Because Mew was never really put into any of the games. It was the "mystery" Pokemon (later, it would be followed by Celebi, Deoxys, Arceus). So yeah it makes no sense, but, if Mewtwo had been #151, your Pokedex in Red and Blue would have a gaping hole in it at #150. Unless you pulled off the Mew glitch, which was in the game unintentionally.

Was it unintentional? I heard it was there to "give diehard Pokemon fans something to search for" on the website i read it on.

It wasn't unintentional. Shigeki Morimoto programmed it into the original red and green without anyone knowing it at first.

That's what I thought. I'm just glad no ones an idiot and still thinks Mew is under the van thing near the SS Anne.

The Mew glitch actually is unintentional. The Mew glitch can actually work with any Pokemon; it's just that why would you waste your time using it on a Vulpix when you could use it on the one Pokemon you can't catch anyhow else?

Before the game was released to the public, a creator of the game added in Mew as a prank to the other creators. It was supposed to be an inside thing. Something went wrong when they were publishing the game, and you could see Mew through a glitch.

i've always wondered this.

mind = blown.

Well many reasons explain the order, 1 is the explained mew being a reward for 151 best poke trainers, also, since mew was considered extinct when the pokedex was made but mewtwo was alive and known, he was placed first, then mews resurrection of his species in emerald by a scientist meant they could now get his info for the pokedex, mews original form in the pokedex was actually just "???" Pokemon, who could learn any move, so they made it mew, with mewtwo being made as a cooler better stronger version, putting him in first, since mew was technically already in it as a glitch, adding him later, and finally, because mew is insanely rare and harder than mewtwo to find and catch , rarely ever seen for anyone to have
