+175 Why don't buses have seat belts, amirite?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

thats what i've always wondered. i think if anyone should have them they should

Because, if a bus hits a car, or gets hit by a car, the people in the bus will barely feal the impact. They will not go flying or anything.

Actually, they will. A huge bus accident just happened in Connecticut where one kid was actually killed. But I don't agree with seat belts in buses (see my post below).

Putting seat belts in buses would cost MILLIONS of dollars out of the states money, which in turn would make us pay that much more taxes. Also, if a little kid is buckled in, and they get into an accident that causes the bus driver to be knocked out, the little kid might not be able to get unbuckled and out of the bus. Especially if the bus is sideways or upside down. The rarity of major bus accidents, also, just makes putting seatbelts on the buses a waste.

the belts would get worn down so much faster than normal safety belts (the ones in cars) from the constant use.

They do have seat belts... at least, every single bus I've ever been on has them.

They do, but you're not *allowed* to use them. No safety for you!
