+846 it's not fair that celebrities get paid so much to do what they love, for example sing? have a tv show about their life? act? when police officers and firefighters risk their lives everyday, trash collectors and street cleaners do the jobs no one else wants to do, get paid crappy salaries for actually working to make this a better place, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's because they have talents that people enjoy watching. However, It is unfair that they probably work no harder than people with real jobs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(>=(): "Real" jobs?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Garbage men where I live get paid a fairly decent salary.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Trash collectors, street cleaners, etc. actually get paid a lot, despite popular belief.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's because almost anyone can become a firefighter or a police officer. Not everyone can become famous.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

justin beiber is famous...so yes anyone can be famous.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Teachers too :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fucking celebrities. They're an insult to real actors. We work OUR asses off trying to do what we love, and you know what? We get shit. We get paid less than garbage men. At least they have steady jobs and don't have to deal with so many obnoxious people.

Most of the people that are performing in the music industry worked their asses off to get where they are today. They took huge risks to be able to do what they love. If a musician can't get enough gigs to pay the bills, they may have wasted 4+ years of college and still not be able to get a job better than if they had never gone to school. Also, I completely disagree that musicians don't make this world a better place. Try going a full day while purposely avoiding all music (even from TV & other media that includes music) and pretty soon you'll start going crazy. Also, life isn't fair.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yea, they (most of them) didn't just get the job handed to them, they WORKED and still do. They don't just stumble on stage and sing a bit, theres a lot involved and it requires a lot of work.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

hahahah CORRECTION: this is called the Disney Channel. no offense

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I did say most- and whoever said that firefighters and policemen don't love what they do???

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I didn't mention anything about policemen and/or firefighters....we were talking about today's media stars right? That comes across as Hannah Montana, Adam Lambert, Justin Bieber, etc etc etc in my mind.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

they may love what they do but they are still risking their lives.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

maybe they like risking their lives- and mutantdustbunnies- i was referring to the post...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

All of these are valid points but i think it's still unfair. they shouldnt get millions for doing what they do. its sickening that they make 10 mil a year when people risking their lives make no more then 90,000 a year.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dude... Movie actors have the easiest jobs ever. Get do redo anything they mess up on, free meals, and others put their makeup on. Real actors that do it onstage have just as hard jobs as street cleaners or garbagemen

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In addition, real stage actors don't have lives, frequently. There's a buttload of rehearsing and touring involved. So even if you got the money, what would you do with it - buy a nice house that you'll never see? Stage acting - now THAT'S tough stuff.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

imagine the world without music. imagine the world without power hungry police officers. yeah, go fuck yourself

by Anonymous 13 years ago

plus how much practice and schooling does it take to pick up trash? not really anything. not even intelligence. no schooling or college required. and police officers and fire fighters get special perks and often abuse their power. theres alot more under the surface there. think about it. or you can stop thinking and go pick up trash

by Anonymous 13 years ago

so just because a few people abuse it means that the ones who dont dont deserve a good amount of money? well i think u need to re-evaluate and check yourself becasue i know cops and i kno ones who abuse their power but i also kno the ones who work past the requirements and get nothing in return. so yeah screw u.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And celebrities don't abuse their fame? you see it everywhere.

by Anonymous 9 years ago

so true. and a lot of them don't work much for it- a lot is based on simply being born with the right look

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Ok this is how i see it, anyone who has potential who puts there back into it and strives for the best they can be and pursues the life they want will more likely become wealthy whether its fame, business, following a technical career, military, or anything really. Now the cut off for what i believe as far as what someone deserves for what they do is a hard thing to really gauge but justin bieber is a example of someone in my opinion who really shouldnt be 18,19,20 however old he is and making more than most adults make in the entirety of there lives. Thats just in my eyes disproportionate. Talent really stems from ones natural ability to have a knack at something that others dont really have, just some knacks are lucrative and others are not. In our society people value ones ability to do the amazing and show the true colors of what a human being is capable of.

Now heres a list of things to give you something to think about as far as what you make. Custodian vs Maitenance; to be a custodian you dont much of a foundation or skill to do other than just work ethic and pride to do it good, maintenance takes someone with that and more. maintenance takes skills such as measuring(math/geometry/comprehension). Those few things give an employer more reason to pay more, your truly more valuable because you do what the next person might not be able to. Ok another thing to compare is say someone who is in construction and lays cement or is in masonry which niether take any more intelligence and skill as being a custodian vs say a engineer or project leader, people with a vast array of skill sets, intelligence, and certifications. who do you think will do better and get paid more. Probably project leaders and engineers; why? because there someone who you can just replace by saying get over here and take over and pick this up, it takes a lot of skill. See its all about skill and value; if you can do the same thing the next person can without anything more than just jumping on it and doing it casually you shouldnt get paid a lot for it.

On the other hand though where i dont agree with is for people who truly have met there limit for potential who truly cannot do any better but try there best to work hard, be responsible, mature, and show pride and do there job well should be valued in there segment more then they are. For example my mother is a nice and kind person, funny with her humor, and can read and write decently but is dyslexic and math is honestly impossible for her to understand, learn, and apply and she has taken tutor courses and what not and just cant do it. Here Logic, spacial, math, and focus isnt great with that and shes been a lna for 13 years and makes 11.99 hr plus and minus that on occasions. Thats unjust, unfair, and just purely wrong. She is a struggling person financially and emotionally and i have spent countless hours trying to support her and keep her on her hinges and it infuriates me what she has done for the place she has worked at, put up with, and stuck with to just get shit on by the higher ups, nurses, and supervisors. She in my opinion even with a job that takes few skills other than a basic training by now she should make at least in my opionon 16-22 hr but no.

I can't accept the fact that celebrities these days are getting millions of dollars doing what they do while there are doctors with a high level of intelligence spending maybe 10+ years in school saving lives. What about all the hardworking people that are barely getting by? You're telling me I can just grab a guitar and post a couple of videos on YouTube and pretend I can sing? Sure, because these days even that doesn't matter. Auto tune and computerized voice enhancers can fix that problem. I guess that means I can also write lyrics about drugs and sex and still make millions of dollars. So wheres the real talent? I'm highly disappointed.
