+222 It is impossible to imagine being dead if there was no life after death, and you just ceased to exist amd had no consciousness, amirite?

It's "impossible to imagine" only because there's nothing to imagine. There's nothing. You're living now, you won't be, then.

I say this - almost in these exact words - to myself all the time. I get some satisfaction out of reading this post.

Think of it like this. Think about all those memories you have from before you were born. Wait, you don't have any because you were simply nonexistent? Well that's what it's like. Why is it hard to grasp a concept that we've all been through already? To me, if there's one easy concept to get, it's that. Just not existing.

Exactly! Here's a comment I wrote before I realized it was just like yours: What I think is that it's just like before you were born. All your thoughts, memories, and conscience is in your brain. The brain dies along with the body, like it just stops functioning. So being dead is like not existing, in my opinion. Not sure about the whole soul thing, though.

when i was younger, i was terrified of dying because i thought i would have to lay down and stare at the inside of my coffin for the rest of eternity.

Don't worry, Casper. You could just be a friendly ghost.

I believe this is actually the most logical perspective. However, I believe in reincarnation of human souls which would explain some bizarre feelings of mine as well as glimpses of certain vivid environments when I close my eyes (along with actually predicting the future with my dreams a couple of times). Regardless, I respect all beliefs and actually find some unique and fascinating. Everyone has a right to have their own opinion since there is no definite confirmation. Which quite frankly is a good thing cause it allows the human mind to go beyond the boundaries of inserted information given by society

The easiest way to put it, in my opinion, is sleep. Everyone has those nights where they are in such a deep sleep that they have no dream. There's just... nothing.Black. That's what I imagine death to be like. You're unaware of what's going around you and you just... Cease to live. Kind of a hard concept to explain.

Everybody should do in their lifetime, sometime, two things. One is to consider death. To observe skulls and skeletons and to wonder what it will be like to go to sleep and never wake up— never. That is a most gloomy thing for contemplation. It’s like manure. Just as manure fertilizes the plants and so on, so the contemplation of death and the acceptance of death is very highly generative of creating life. You’ll get wonderful things out of that.-alan watts
