because elevators aren't the same size as a nromal room

Well, while escalators are almost identical to stairs, most elevators don't have furniture or anything that rooms have.

They scare me too. I have like a little like "oh my gosh, I'm about to pass out" moment every time I get on one.

Some places you just have no choice though. Like at our mall, the only way to go upstairs is by riding an escalator.
