Even Justin beiber and Miley Cyrus bring us together and give joy: we come together to hate on them, and take joy from covering their CDs with others in stores, and scribbling in sharpie on their posters. ;)

This reminds me of a quote from a Sarah Dessen novel. "Music is a total constant. That's why we have such a strong visceral connection to it, you know? Because a song can take you back instantly to a moment, or a place, or even a person. No matter what else has changed in your or the world, that one song says the same, just like that moment."

true, but people are so judgmental when it comes to differing views and tastes in music. for example, most people hate hip hop. if the only thing you knew about a person was that they like hip hop, people tend to silently judge them thinking that what their taste in music makes them who they are. im a fan of hip hop music. i dont have an inferiority complex when it comes to my taste in music. i think hip hop is the best genre and my favorite genre. my favorite album of any and all genres is De La Soul Is Dead. opinions should only be judged if there is no intelligent justification to it. like saying "i love hip hop because it goes hard". thats just dumb

accessible to nearly everyone and that is where the bond between people is sort of created. You like music.. I like music.. that's the establishment of a bond. People coming closer to one another actually meant getting closer to people not only physically but spiritually, socially and ideologically. Whether you get closer to the artist himself or the people who like the artist. Sorry for having been so long. I just wanted to talk about that post. :)

preference and choice of music can only be subjective. Tastes vary across different generations, nations, cultures, and perhaps sex too. Judging people because of their appreciation for a particular genre of music is totally useless. Each person has his own degree of discrepancy towards choices and that shouldn't be a matter of consideration to base one's judgement on his other. Music is somehow liberal due to its abilities as a widespread phenomena and cultural effigy of a society. Association of a certain type of music to a certain segment of the population is irrational and inadequate. On that point i totally agree with you. In fact what i really meant with this post (honestly its mine) is that to some extent music transpose itself through different eras. Music though not all people might agree is a form of contemporary 'trade' for opinions, values, culture and sometimes even language. With new technologies music is accessible to nearly everyone and that is...
