It's weird that, starting next year, the Big Ten Conference is going to have 12 teams, and the the Big 12 Conference is going to have 10, amirite?

The big 10 already has 11 teams. And the big 12 is only losing Missouri, Colorado is staying as part of the big 12

No... Nebraska is moving to the Big 10 and Colorado is going to the Pac-10. Missouri is staying which leaves the Big 12 with 10 schools and the Big 10 will increase from 11 to 12. However, Nebraska is moving in 2011 but Colorado isn't moving until 2012 so I guess the OP's use of "next year" isn't entirely correct.
