So just to explain, this post is saying that if a joke is made and then someone explains it, the funny is lost. This is compared to dissection of an animal, because you're cutting up the joke, the way you might cut up an animal. In this way, through cutting, whether the cutting of the joke or the cutting of an animal, something is killed.
