+446 Obama should not be put on the new dollar bill, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

why would they replace george washington with obama? that's just...wrong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no kidding...we havent even seen the end of obama's first term!!! we dont know if he'll be great or if he'll be horrible. hmmm...obama vs. our first president..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Id rather he be on there than bush . But JFK should,Really .

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree JFK is like da BESTT ! But Obama hasn't even done anything worth getting on the $ bill, people just love him because he's the first (half) black president... which is an accomplishment so to speak but you don't just stop after you become president...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't think JFK did much either. He had a lot of great ideas but Lyndon B Johnson did most of them for him. He was great, but he died before he really made an impact

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I suppose you're right, I think the only person who REALLY deserves to be on currency is Abe Lincoln for freeing the slaves, even if it was out of spite. Good thing we don't have an option of people would probably try to put someone like Taylor Swift on there... lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that is so true.I dont think Abe deserves it either I blame him for the dust bowl. Id argue that its the Roosevelts that really deserve it. and Dwight Eisenhower

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The Roosevelts are the best!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'd sayyy.....Ronald Reagan!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I still think Abe did more than most presidents would have... people just like to put all the blame on whichever president we have at the time because they're the person promising us all these things they can't give us. But Bill Clinton was a good president in my opinion, apart from his personal life.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Homestead act.The dust bowl happened after Abe's death, FYI. I think James K Polk did more fore this president than Abe. I would put FDR as #1 president though

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, cool. COLORS. AND THEY'RE VERTICAL. But Obama hasn't done anything YET to merit his being on the dollar bill.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not Obama and DEFINITELY not Reagan. Definitely JFK.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Although I agree people give him way too much crap, I don't agree with him being on any type of monetary unit

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I would burn the damn dollar bill if they put his face on it. That's stupid because he hasn't even done anything worth while!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If anything, they should put his face on food stamps.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's a good idea.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If I could vote your comment up more than once, I would...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I definitely don't think they should replace George Washington with Obama. And even though I don't agree with many of Obama's policies, I do think he represents a really pivotal point in our country's history, obviously the election of the first African-American to the presidency. He may not have done anything worth while but his face DOES represent an extremely proud moment for our country where we overcame all of the hatred and discrimination that has marked our past.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh, but it's not over yet. You ever been in the deep south? Plenty of hatred and discrimination there. But I see what you're saying.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You're right, it's still really scary in many southern parts how much discrimination still exists. It's like we're still in the 50s and 60s. But collectively, the majority of the country voted a black man to the presidency.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My english teacher went to colledge in the south (She's black) adn a girl told her the library was only for students in a "you must not be a student because of your race" way. My teacher responded "Oh, I'll be out once my mother is done working with the cleaning crew"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You're crazy, Obama does NOT deserve to be put on anything!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Mmm yeah it seems like you're not quiiiite understanding what I'm saying. I'm not saying Obama should be put on something because he DESERVES it. I'm saying our country deserves it for what we've accomplished. Not for Obama's sake, for ours. Does that make it clearer to you?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We didn't overcome it, the majority of the electoral college did.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, actually Obama did win the majority of the popular vote, in addition to winning the electoral college. First democratic candidate to win the majority popular vote since Carter. Check your facts, buddy :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oprah has made a bigger difference in america than obama..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why not? You can't just say 'should not be' without good reason. I mean sure, his policies are generally more left winged, but really, it's for the benefit for Americans.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

George Washington is the father of our country. He fought in the Revolutionary War, he set the precedent for the prestige of the presidential office, and he does NOT deserve to be replaced by a man who had only been president for two years. Obama has accomplished nothing--nothing in comparison to Washington.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How is that for the benefit of America? We shouldn't replace any of the Presidents (and Ben Franklin), if anything just the design.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Personally I think the one of the only reasons they might want to to this is because Obama is the first African American president. Don't get me wrong, Obama seems like a good guy personally, and this is a HUGE milestone that American has gone from enslaving African American to one actually becoming president. Plus he seems like one of the first presidents we have had with an actual personality. But at the end of the day, he hasn't done anything yet. If he somehow magically leads us out of this horrible economy like JFK, that'd be another story. It just seems like Obama gets ALOT more credit, and praise at times from some people for simply being African American.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Obama shouldn't even be on toilet paper! He's not worthy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

First of all the government isnt planning on replacing George Washington, it would be a waste of the taxpayers money and even if the did change it i would recommend Reagan JFK or Lincoln even though he did change the constitution in order to be able to collect taxes, but he did that in order to clean up after the civil war

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If they do redesign it and stick with one historical figure per bill: $1-George Washington $5-Abraham Lincoln $10-James Madison $20-Franklin Roosevelt $50-Benjamin Franklin $100-John Marshall Jackson, Hamilton and Grant really don't deserve to be on the money.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ooh, and since all the bills would be white men, you could mix it up for the coins. Penny-Susan B Anthony Nickel-Sacajawea Dime-Harriet Tubman Quarter-Frederick Douglass

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I like the coin idea...it wouldn't necessary have to be black historical figures but just important historical figures in general, versus just presidents.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's true (but only 2 of them were black). You could have Marshall on the coins because I feel like he's forgotten. I thought about the bills being "older" figures like Washington, Madison, Lincoln, etc. and the coins being more modern, but I struggled to come up with 4 people I wouldn't mind. You could move FDR over to the coins, you could convince me to include JFK too, MLK would also have to be in there if it's about modern America but no one else pops out at me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Obama is SO much more important than our first president! Like when he signed the health care bill compared to George Washington leading us to gain our independence from the British! How daring!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

OK @644146 (D_Sexy): I hope you're being sarcastic.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I am

by Anonymous 13 years ago

FDR needs to be on something.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

1) Our GREEN american dollar bills are a CLASSIC. No one can change those. 2) Its great that we put our latest achievements/presidents but we cannot forget those who started it all.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Personally, I feel jackson did the most for our country. He was the only president to pay off our national debt and he doubled the size of our country at the same time. He led soldiers into battle with bullets still lodged in his body. He was bad ass.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

At least it's only a dollar.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

He's the first black president, that's monumental, and it's only the dollar bill.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They should keep those designs and let people vote on which president should be on which bill, cause personally I think they're pretty cool even though I don't really think Obama has done anything monumental yet, besides be black (no offense intended anyone)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

NO! They need to make a 3 dollar bill. Then everyone can say "Queerer than an Obama" instead of a 3 dollar bill.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

just because he is black dont make it moumental THATS RACIST
