It looks so much better when you see kids in a school dressed nicely, not wearing sweat pants. amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
not if they wear heels and proceed to bitch about their feet hurting all day
by Anonymous13 years ago
well it's not that they have to be all dressed up but putting on a nice shirt and decent pair of pants/jeans in the morning would be pretty nice I think
by Anonymous13 years ago
Looking "pretty nice" does not affect one's academic ability. In some cases, it may reflect it, sure. But it doesn't even matter.
by Anonymous12 years ago
No one said anything about the way you look affecting your academics.
by Anonymous12 years ago
What I'm saying is, then why should the way you dress at school matter?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Because people should make an effort to look neat.
by Anonymous12 years ago
...okay, but why?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Because walking around looking like you just rolled out of bed is disgusting.
Once in a whole is fine, because everyone has off days. And if you're going to wear a sweatsuit, ok. Fine.
But when you wear pajama pants and a hoodie with your hair messed up is just dirty.
by Anonymous12 years ago
But why should it matter that people think you look disgusting? I don't get it. Maybe they'll end up friendless and a hobo, whatever, but that doesn't mean they should or shouldn't dress up to learn.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Its about respecting yourself. Point blank.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Well, that beings in a whole new perspective, because in my opinion respecting yourself means wearing whatever the fuck you want.
by Anonymous12 years ago
That's your opinion and I respect it.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I agree with everything you're saying, but the smartest kids at my school tend to not look "pretty nice" because they're exhausted from doing AP homework until 2 am.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Never said that wasn't true. It makes sense sense. I didn't mean to imply that people who wear sweatpants don't take difficult classes or something.
by Anonymous12 years ago
In my high school it was the opposite. The smartest kids were usually the most popular and the best (if not best, they usually looked neat and presentable) dressed.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I wish I went to your school.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I don't think people look dressed down if they wear sweat pants. People shouldnt have to dress to impress.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Comfort> style. I'd rather spend an extra 15 minutes or so catching up on sleep than getting up early to put something nice on...occasionally I do but that's on the days I get a good night's sleep and am not bombarded with tests/quizzes/homework.

That's an upside to uniforms. You roll out of bed and know what you are going to wear. The only options are which color shirt and do I need a jacket.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Yeah but uniforms are still pretty uncomfortable. I'd take sweats over them any day.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Yeah, but we have both a hoodie and sweatshirt option for over out polos that are really soft. Personally, my uniform is pretty comfy, but maybe it's just because I have always worn one.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Slacks, dress shirt, tie, and a blazer in the winter. Not that comfortable.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I just don't wear pants. Problem solved.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I wear a uniform, so everyday I have to look nice.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I think everyone at least needs to comb there freaking hair, get rid of their nasty eye boogers, brush their teeth, and put on some clean clothes (if the clothes match, that's a bonus). Yet, people still come to school with nasty breath and their hair sticking out in the randomest places. I understand you maybe be tired, and I'm not asking to dress up like you're going to prom, but at least make some sort of effort to be clean! Ugh.
Sorry for ranting..
by Anonymous12 years ago
At my school we have to wear a pencil skirt and a blouse as part of our uniform so I guess we have to look nice everyday.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Um...Obviously?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Hey, I used to wear sweat pants everyday in 5-6 grade. I was young and honest to God didn't give a shit about my looks. Everyone complained, but I was fine with myself. I at least brushed my hair and teeth. I don't care if you wear the most crappiest looking clothing or PJ's. Just put your personal care first and I won't say a thing.
