I have a friend who calls it a controller. I'd be fine with that if it didn't make me think of video games.

I have a friend whose whole family calls it a "paddle". No idea where that came from.

My family calls it the "doofer". I thought this was completely normal until I said it around another family, they had no idea what I was talking about. No one in my family knows where it came from either.

Me too, but I'm the only one of my friends who says it, and I live in southern Georgia.

I read this as dicker.

One of my friends calls it a TV flipper.

I call the remote clicker, I call the turn signal clicker, I call just about everything a clicker. It becomes very vague.
