+787 It's weird to think that, in 30 years, artists like Lady Gaga will be considered old school, Miley Cyrus will be long forgotten, and 70's bands like Led Zeppelin will be practically ancient, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lady Gaga will be long forgotten as well; do you really think her crap will ever qualify as "classic"? Nowai.

Well, considering Justin Bieber is the Kurt Cobain of our generation...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

FRIGGIN NO. DON'T EVER SAY BIEBER. HE'S GOING TO BE LIKE NSYNC OR THE BACKSTREET BOYS ONCE HIS CAREER IS OVER.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hey, they had some good songs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

good point. Let me rephrase that. HE'S GOING TO BE LIKE... uhh.... hmm.... can't think of any bad 90's bands...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ha, I know. I was just seeing how many people I'd piss off.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You know how many people bought the New Kids on the Block's music? Vanilla Ice? At least as many as Lady Gaga... and they're not classics, they're gone. Novelties and jokes; not classic musicians. Just like Miley Cyrus will be, and Lady Gaga. Pop music is disposable, and that's all that woman is. She isn't exceptionally talented... she's a walking, singing gimmick; a living publicity stunt. She used to be a serious artist, and then she realized she was never going to get famous being the mousy/pretty-ish girl behind the piano, and made herself into some freakish mix of old-school Madonna and Marilyn Manson. I'm far from close-minded... I just know what I'm talking about.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, you don't know what you're talking about.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Have you lived in a commune your whole life with no TV? How on earth is "shock for attention" being original? I'd post anonymously if I was that ignorant as well.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Meessa.): Yeah... that has all the effectiveness of "I know you are, but what am I". Unless you have an actual rebuttal, stfu and go listen to your disposable music.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can't wait for the day that Miley is ancient history! Forgive me you loyal fans (If you're out there), but her music is not qualify as a good sound and she's becoming a bit... risqué for Disney.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No; firstly because that's silly, and secondly, people listening to it wouldn't prove your point. People still listen to lots of things that are old, and they're not all considered "classics". Let me put it this way; if we fall so far as a society in 30 years that Lady Gaga is the best we can do for classic music, it's not a world I'd want to live in. And SarcasticFuck; I'm sure that's exactly what Cyndi Lauper, Sinead O'Conner, and countless other singers who thought being weird and shocking would make them immortal thought... it didn't work for them, because they just didn't have the strength of talent to last. In 20-30 years, Lady Gaga will be half-remembered for whatever her most famous song was... Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and Nothing Compares 2 U, anyone?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you are the best! i completly agree with you. the "hits" of today will be nothing in years to come, just like they are nothing but catchy beats today. Unlike amazing classics that will live forever like Pink Floyd, Steppenwolf, Guess Who, The Beatles, Queen, and Van Halen just to name a few, the crap listened today will be forgotten in 10-30 years.!

I hate pretentious people who assume their taste in music puts them above others from an intellectual standpoint. Guess what? People will love whatever music they want to, and they don't need to get other people's shit for it. You can't honestly compare Lady Gaga to Led Zeppelin because they're entirely different genres of music, and it all depends on what an individuals taste in music is. Arrogance will get you nowhere. Oh and lady gaga, although I'm not fond of her, does have talent.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No reply button atm; stfu about it. @Dayna: Thanks =) it's not that I don't think any solid music is being made now, or that none of it is popular... Lady Gaga just isn't it. Pop feeds us an endless parade of new big things and trends, and sometimes those things have staying power, but usually the things that just scream "RIGHT NOW!" don't. @633724 Anon: It's a pretty big assumption to say I'm arrogant, and it's a very small one to assume I am at least one of the people you're passive-agressively shit talking. It's not arrogant to express an opinion, nor to illustrate that opinion with examples. Never once did I refer to any music I liked in particular, or express any feelings of personal superiority because of the observations I've made about how trends in music work. Also- I never said there was anything wrong with liking Lady Gaga. I like pro wrestling, ffs- if being cheesy, moderately talented, and unoriginal made something unfit in my eyes, I certainly wouldn't li...

... like that. Mindless entertainment is still entertainment nonetheless, and I can enjoy it when it appeals to me. Do you assume arrogance because I can express myself articulately? If that's the case, nvm all the previous; I'm flattered, really. Hate on, hater.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well said. lol haters can hate cuz if you don't like me remember it's mind over matter; I don't mind and you don't matter.
