there can't be hate if there isn't love, because hate is the absence of love.

I disagree with that, I find that hate is the opposite of love. Absence of love is indifference, and absence of hate is indifference.

To explain why I NW'd, I'd like to quote my all-time favorite book, so here goes, "“Without pain, how could we know joy?' This is an old argument in the field of thinking about suffering, and its stupidity and lack of sophistication could be plumbed for centuries, but suffice it to say that the existence of broccoli does not, in any way, affect the taste of chocolate.”

It would definitely still be there. Even if you didn't have the hormones to make the feeling hate, you'd still have the chemicals for love. You probably wouldn't appreciate the concept of love as much if you didn't know what hate was, though.
