+220 You can argue all you want that pot should be illegal because "ZOMG IT'S DRUUUGS," but why is everyone okay with cigarettes and alcohol being legal when they kill tons of people every year? amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Agree.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There's a button for that, and no, it doesn't say "reply."

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't know, but since their legal now, if they were made illegal, people would freak out and it would be a disaster.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

*theyre!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But in reality though I think there'd be more people chilling out and getting high rather than rioting or psychotic rampages if it became legal. We just make marijuana out to be a bigger deal than it is.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

First of all that lady has been drinking alcohol too. Second, tell me that there aren't hundreds of thousands of more alcohol related crimes than marijuana related crimes. I'm not saying marijuana isn't dangerous because drugs are in fact dangerous, but really it's not logical to permit one dangerous substance and not the other. People aren't going to smashing windows and pelting people with rocks the minute they hear marijuana is legal. What they're going to is go to the store/dealer, get more weed, and smoke it. It'll definitely be chaotic for a while because dealers are going to try to find more supplies for the demand, but it'll level out. Marijuana isn't a gateway drug more than alcohol/tobacco is. Alcohol and smoking give you a "high" and they both alter your brain to make you feel better. That can be said with any addiction. If a substance gives you a synthetic high, and you want something bigger and more powerful, then that substance is a gateway drug.

Well alcohol has been banned before...and we know how that worked out. Personally I would support a ban on both of those but it wouldn't work...addicts will always find ways and nobody would do enact it for political reasons not to mention the black market would surge

Money.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If it were legalized think of all the people who'd be smoking pot on the streets and what not because they can now do in public what they could only do in private before. It's like running around the house naked the first time you're left home alone. You dont just walk around calmly you run. Why? Because you've always wanted to and now you can. Basically for the next month or so after its legalization there would be chaos then things would simmer down. The government doesn't wanna deal with a month a chaos, but it's gonna have to happen eventually.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Why does it HAVE to happen?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You think we can keep this fight up forever?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Of course we can fight it forever. "Lol I think murder should be legal for everyone! It will happen eventually because I don't think people can keep fighting it forever' or we could not make murder or pot legal ever

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's not the same. There aren't a large group of people pushing for the legalization of murder and there never will be.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Isn't*

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Of course there are. 1 in 7 people would kill someone they know if they knew they could get away with it for sure, that comes out to roughly a billion people world wide. Fortunately we have 6 of every 7 keeping that from happening. Pot isn't much different from a political statistic perspective. Some people want it legalized, some don't, and statistically those who don't will succeed until something changes. Also, don't correct his grammar, it's kinda like saying 'You win this time, I have nothing to say.' now I'm actually not against pot legalization, I'm on the fence. I'm just saying his argument wasn't incorrect even if it was worded terribly.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh I do apologize, I thought for a moment you were correcting the 'isn't' in anonymous' comment not your own, my bad.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm not trying to say pot is bad, or that it SHOULD be illegal. I guess I'm just neutral on the issue, so I don't see why people are so up in arms. But maybe that's because I've never tried it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Very very very few non smokers think cigarettes should stay legal and I have a few friends who say I'd smoking were illegal they'd probably give them up

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm against cigarettes and smoking drugs. Neither should be legal. Alcohol is okay because it hurts only you. Smoking hurts the environment (yes I know it's insignificant, but all those smokers does make a difference) and smoke annoys everyone around the smoker. Plus, drinking a liquid into your system is natural. Having smoke come from your mouth isn't.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

thousands of people are killed every year in drunk driving accidents...just saying

by Anonymous 11 years ago

bitch, please. an alcoholic would do anything they can to get their vodka, and they don't give two fucks who they hurt in the process. they're too drunk to. sure, sober-them can be nice and all good-guy-greg, but they're drunk most of the time and they can't think.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I do have a problem with cigarettes and alcohol aswell as with any other form of drugs.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My dad and stepmom are heavy heavy smokers. They smoke about 1200 cigarettes a month. I've told my dad "I'd rather you smoke pot than cigarettes. I mean those things are killing you every time you smoke one.", and it's true too. At least with pot, he's not ravaging his already sick body. Heck, I'm sure the pot would actually help make it better.

You realize there is more tar in a joint than a cigarette, right? Just because weed helped nausea in cancer patients doesn't mean it's good for you. I have nothing against either (I smoke cigarettes and weed on occasion) but I don't pretend either are good for me. You think weed doesn't have any carcinogens? You think SMOKING weed doesn't damage your lungs? Smoking anything hurts your lungs. You think people aren't bothered by the smell of weed burning? I could care less if weed is legalized or not, but don't try to use the argument that weed is better for you than cigarettes.. Did you pull that study out of your ass?

Cannabis is a plant created by God. Jesus used it and other ingredients mixed into an oil for the purpose of healing and performing miracles. The medical properties of cannabis have saved numerous lives over the years, and will continue to do so whether it be legal or not. People rely on this medicine just to live another day like any other person. Yes, there are people who will abuse it. But when it slows and even stops cancer in some cases, does it matter if this guy over here is smoking just for the high? It is not like alcohol to where you can't still control yourself and function properly. Not one person has died to the solo use of cannabis. If people actually took the time to research on their own instead of jumping on the government bandwagon, this country would be quite different. It should be regulated and taxed just as alcohol and tobacco are now. Stop putting innocent people behind bars and pay off the nation's debt through legalization.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Partially I agree. But people who smoke weed and drive are just as impaired as people who drink and drive.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Saying weed shouldn't be illegal because cigarettes and alcohol are legal is not an argument. That means that ALL drugs should be legal then. Just because it's considered more acceptable to smoke weed then, say, do ecstasy, doesn't mean it should be legalized. More people die from alcohol poisoning than they do from using ecstasy. Does that mean it should be legalized along with weed, or neither? You can't have it both ways.
